Shit, now I sound like a chick that can't pick shoes to match the new earings, pfft. :aww:

Last idea, black rings AND black traditional vol knob? Suddenly the rings are growing me. Thinking my other guitars are H H and directed mounted, this look would mix things up a bit instead of one more of the same, hmmm.

First option to reach two votes wins. :D

rings for sure. the charvel hum routes are just too big and sloppy to pull off the no ring look. no rings works for Suhr and Ibanez since their routes have the small dimarzio triangle shape ears and not giant open areas for the rectangle ears.

And then the fun with the Suhr routs is when you want to throw a Duncan or any other normal type pickup in there. You have to jack up the pickup ears to get it into the guitar.

What I do is screw a DMZ pup to the bottom of the Duncan, and then use my Dremel to make the Duncan feet match the DMZ.

Good idea. But then when you don't like the Duncan in the Suhr either you have to explain on ebay why the ears are messed up. Been there done that.

Rings all the way. I'd go with the chrome knob though, or better yet, a brass one. I still haven't changed mine yet.

Rings and get a NOS brass volume knob.

Next NAMM who will have the bigger head?

Dave Mustaine or Curt?

Love ya Curt

Got the same guitar a couple weeks ago. Love it. Needs rings though.

The thought of girls fawning over me due to being seen with Curt "Charvel" Anderson would be worth the beatdown my wife would bring upon me.

Well if you are going that far, then you want double creme pups with matching rings. :D

Dang Scott! I need your imagination.

Sweet, love the Charvels, and the white is hot!

Oh yeah, and I vote rings!

Thanks again for all the input on the rings. They're still taped in there and the more time that passes, the more I can see staying with them. If I do leave 'em in, I'll go all the way with the more dated/relic look and find a worn "metal" vol knob or at least scuff up the new chrome (plated?) knob. I also have a set of really nice schaller, well worn brass tuners sitting on an '87 Fender Contemporary Strat neck just collecting dust (anyone know what type wood those guitars were?)...that would complete it methinks. That was never the plan but it looks like that'll be the way it goes. (=

BTW, last night was the first night I had a good chance to really play it through my rig for an extened time, and to sum it up, I just ordered from MF a Duncan Custom. I HATE, yeah, hated the JB through my QR and cab. I've never owned a JB so it may be unfair for me to dis it, but it was not a positive experience. I kept grabbing my So-Cal with its way vintage Super Distortion and wishing I was hearing those tones from the JB. I even attribued the JB upper mid bitterness to the brand new strings and tried to give it a fair chance by putting on some older strings....no effect, still too bright for me. I know some dudes luv that pup, but the QR is already an upper mid vibed amp, the JB is overkill with it IMO. On the other hand, the '59 in the neck was sweet! That'll stay put! I'm sure I just opended up a can-o-worms....
