NGD - Chubtone #2

Just got my second Chubtone.

For this one I wanted something classic yet modded looking. A distressed look (sorry for those that don't like it) and of course I love reversed headstocks. Overall I wanted it to look like an old friend that someone had worked on through the years. And it came out exactly how I drew it up. In fact I was shocked how good it looked the first time I saw it online as it was dead on to what I had planned. I did struggle deciding on going locking trem or do I go old school. Over the years as I moved away from Floyds and gotten used to the PRS trem, going to a Floyd is quite a contrast, that said in the end this guitar had to have a locking to keep that modded look.

Chubtone #219 features ebony fretboard, 1 11/16 nut, jumbo frets and the #3 vintage c neck. The #3 is just so comfortable and for those thinking it's too big, it's not. Still speedy with just a little more girth in the back, perfect for me as I can't deal with the Charvel size necks anymore. Makes my hands cramp after about 30 mins of play.
Body is Alder and has good weight to it as I really don't like light guitars, balance is perfect.
Gotoh Locking trem - had bought this to put on my other Chub replacing the Floyd as the fine tuners on the Gotoh are set back further giving your hand little more room but just never got around to it, so sent this to Curt and Matt. Love it.
Pups - ToneNerd Wicked 8 (thanks @scottosan) in the bridge and Duncan Hot Strat in the neck. The 8 combined with the Alder is a little more open sounding that the 8 in my all mahogany Chub.
Control Layout - wanted the classic look so Volume, Tone w/ coil tap and the other Tone is a dummy pot, it's just for looks. 3 way switch and aged pickguard.

My first Chubtone is #119, and this is #219 - pretty cool. This thing rocks. Can't say enough about dealing with Curt and Matt, total pro's that make amazing guitars. I feel blessed I have two of their creations. Thanks guys! I know there are alot of great builders out there doing fine work but I really cannot recommend Curt and Matt enough!

Really nice!

What kind of lead time are they running now?

Looked at music zoo Charvel relic nitros.
Over 4k for a used one ?
 
Jesus Johnny, That looks awesome !! Ya know, I have the same problem with the hand cramps, too thin of a neck and 20-30 minutes later my hand draws up like a lobster claw, have to press my hand down on a table to flatten it back out, painful. thicker neck I am good to go.
 
I absolutely adore my chubtone guitars. My latest one has pretty much benched all of my other guitars. I promised myself a V next but I plan on another chubtone shortly thereafter

The #3 Vintage C neck they do is nice. It really feels great. I can bounce between my Pauls, PRS's and the Chubs and it's all familiar. The only outlier would be one of my standards with the Slim Taper and honestly, can't play that think long. I've only kept it because it has a great top for a Wine Red Paul but the thin neck, just wears me out after a bit. Now I'll say this, it's probably the best Slim Taper neck I've ever felt on a Paul but it's hanging around for old times sake at this point.
