Lots of good options out there,
You'd have to try all the load boxes back to back to truly understand the differences in tone between them. Ideally using a real cab isolated in another room as a reference load. As that's what you are trying to emulate using load boxes, and especially reactive load boxes.
Cab Clone, Hotplate, etc etc do not sound the same, not even close, to using a real cab as a load. Which isn't to say you couldn't get good results with them, the results will just be not the same sound as if you were loading with a real cabinet. The Suhr box sounds and reacts identically to a real cab. Other load boxes achieve varying results between very similar to a real cab, to not very similar at all.
Yes, I've tried most of them, back to back and head to head, along with a real cab as a "control", in my studio.
I agree, Two Notes makes a very good product, I like and use the Torpedo Live and Reload. The Suhr is another great option, at a different price point for someone that wants a very simple exceptional sounding line out to use with IR's in a DAW. Once you try them, you realize that impulse responses are far superior to any analog speaker simulation available, and they are also cheap and easy to use.
Tonally, using the Suhr with IR's is a whole other level from what you could get from a Cab Clone, or a Hotplate...
