So I recently picked this up off Facebook Marketplace on a whim. The price seemed good for a Custom Shop Dunable and I thought it looked really cool. I'm a sucker for matte/satin black finishes.
I could tell looking at who the seller was (some 30-year old Mom) that they probably didn't know much about it, and I was right. It was basically a gift she had bought for her then-boyfriend who cheated on her so she took it from him (hopefully legally)
. Unfortunately the guitar case smelled (still does smell) horribly like weed and the guitar needed some cleaning up a total setup. The hardware was deliberately aged nickel but the gunk on the frets/fretboard were another story. I was able to talk her down further on the price, so in the end it was quite a good deal.
After cleaning it up and trying to get it setup to my liking, I like how it plays and feels. I think the pickups on it look really cool, kind of a Type O vibe, but I really don't think I like how they sound. These are their "Slugwolf" pickups and despite being wound to around 14k, they feel and sound underpowered and are actually kind of thin and weak. Just not what I was expecting. I'll see if I can upload a clip or video or something in a bit.
It's all mahogany with an ebony board and jumbo nickel frets, 25.5" scale, 1.65" nut and 12" radius. Never have played a Dunable previously so it's pretty cool to get my hands on one.
