Well I've always wanted one and now I'm happy to say I'm the proud new owner of a tobacco burst Gibson Explorer! Not nearly as slutty as my other guitars but I'm happy none the less! Picking it up after work and will take some better pics soon. Here's the pic my buddy had when he bought it off ebay.

Indeed! Thanks for the compliment! Only a few more hours til I pick it up!

Classic. That's exactly how I picture the classic Gibson Explorer. Very nice.

What pickups are in it?

Thanks man! Definitely has that classic look, I agree!

Just stock pups as far as I know, so I guess a 496 and 500. I'll probably take them out to see.

Welcome to the club!

hehe thanks man! I don't know why it's taken me so long to get one but I'm glad it finally happened!

My gf was kind enough to snap a few shots after I cleaned/set it up!

Thanks man! Got the VHT a few months ago. So far so good. Just can't wait to build the new studio. 90% of my gear is in storage at the moment :(

I see you have quite the rig yourself! ...have any pics of that LP?

The joys/pains of GAS eh? Always sucks when you miss a piece of gear!

I gave the Explorer a decent test run last night. Killer sound. Gotta get used to the feel though, just a bit.

That looks pristine. So not only a classic look but near mint! What year is it?

I could see this in my collection, my Rics may get pissed, but they'll get over it eventually. My new Iceman is on the other side of the room from the Rics for now, just to keep them separated for their own safety!  (I'm serious!) :loco:

Your Ric / Iceman story made me smile man, that's great stuff! lol

So I'm happy to report the Explorer is a 1990 model! Just shy of 20 years old, awesome! It was in severe need of TLC when I picked it up but as you can see in the pics it turned out great. Few dings here and there but nothing major. Time to rock n roll!
