Yeah, I don't dispute that fat necks usually sound better, but they give me tennis elbow and carpal tunnel--so skinny necks for me. 9.5lb is perfect for a Custom.

I would leave the gold hardware but put in pickups with no covers or remove the pickup covers on what's in it.

I like it as is in gold, man... Maybe play the shit out of it for the now, and when it needs a facelift, go for chrome/nickel or whatever. But play the snot out of it now as is - maybe you'll bond with it and from there you can truly make up your mind. I love the look of it personally - but it'd look even more sick once that gold starts to distress a bit. That'll look wicked.

That's what I was thinking.

I bought a Cherry sunburst Custom brand new in 1980. It was a NOS '78. Gold all over it. Slowly, as I saved money (I was 14), I tried to change it all. Looked way better with chrome.

TonePros works for me, I dig that it locks. I think I remember you saying awhile back you don't like those though. Am I wrong? I have it on my GT:
