A few months ago I started reading about the Gibson Studio Session guitars and had good reviews. The more I read about them, the more I felt like it would be a good guitar for me.
I traded some gear I had and got $700 from that to out towards it. The Mom and Pop store I bought it from inspected it before shipping it to me and they noticed a small ding in the finish. They asked if I wanted a refund or they could take $400 off. I was like hell yeah! So basically paid for half of the guitar with trade in and the slight damage.
As you guys know, i'm one of the Gibson Goons on here and love Les Pauls. I have a Standard and Classic and have owned multiple of each model over the years. This plays as well as my other LPs and is definitely the best Studio I've played. The neck is insanely easy to play on and I noticed the thinner neck as soon as I started playing. Thinnest neck on a LP I've personally played.
Love the ebony fretboard and even dig the 57 pickups, which I wasn't sure about. I can get a great heavier tone pretty easy. The carved out area on the back of the body is really cool. It felt weird reaching those high notes without my hand hitting anything.
The string height is perfect but I had to do a bit of intonation and took five minutes and sounds awesome now. I think this is a great Les Paul and I've played a lot of them. Pretty impressed!
