So I've been wanting to pickup an original Charvel strat head for awhile and I'm still looking for one, but I found this and went for it. It arrived yesterday and I'm really digging it. It's kinda rare because GMW doesn't make the strat heads or 21 fret necks anymore since Fender started going after people. Some cool things about it... There is a nice flame on the neck and the front of the headstock is glossed, which looks great. This guitar was built some time in the '90s and is in great condition. It seems the bridge pickup is a JB and the neck is a '59. Sounds really nice and plays great once I moved the action up a bit.

Very happy with this one!

Awesome looking guitar. This is a very rare hot rod flame paint job. Is the body wood made out of maple and does this type of tremolo stay in tune? Just curious as to why you sold your shell pink relic Charvel if you're such a big fan of Charvel guitar?

Thanks and yes, that paint job is pretty rare... The body is alder. This type of tremolo is hard to keep in tune, no doubt, but it is possible, and my style has changed such that I'm not as tied to the bar anymore...

Well... For one thing, I'm wanting to fund an original serialized Charvel Strat Head from '81 or '82 with a single hum and graphic, which is gonna require some coin. Also, I move things all the time until I find THE one of something I want. Sometimes ya bond with a guitar and sometimes ya don't, ya know?? The pink Charvel, while it was a very nice guitar, is easily replaceable anyway since it's from new production and The Music Zoo has Nitro relics in on a regular basis. I have other cool Charvels from current production, but no originals right now and I want one...

Nice - congrats on the GMW.
Good luck on your Charvel quest

This guitar will never be modified by me in any way. Mark those words! :)

Great looking axe. Looks a lot like my Charvel right down to the stupid truss rod adjustment on the heel. Do you have to take off your neck to adjust or can you get to it? What was Charvel thinking?

Yes, you have to take the neck off, but this isn't a Charvel thing. Strats have always been this way.

I honestly don't find this to be that big of a deal, I just leave the strings on and everything...

Typically, flames are not my preference but that one is very, very nice.

Great score! Double cream is the way to go on that graphic. Actually I prefer double cream on all my Charvel's and GMW's.

Congrats!!! I always wanted a HRF guitar.......Dibs

Seriously Dibs :D
