Question: Are those So-Cal and San Dimas models basically a strat body, or is it more like a Jackson Soloist? Looks like a strat bod in the pics.

Strat bodies like the original Charvels. In the early days, the Soloist body was only found on Jacksons and all bolt-ons were Charvels and all neck thru's were Jacksons. Than in 1985, Grover Jackson sold the Charvel name to another company that moved production to Japan. Then you saw Soloist bodies and neck thru on Charvels while Jackson started making bolt on necks and strat bodies as well as the typical Jacksons in the USA.

Cool. Thanks man!

Id love to say that these Guitars are amazing for the money but they are just flat out amazing in general especially of you dig the Old Charvels! They have become my main guitar ;)

I bought one from Chubtone and I could not be happier.....

I keep seeing people say they're great for the money. Well they are I suppose.

They're just great. No doubt. No matter how much they cost. They could sell them for much more. IMO.

I'm not disputing their greatness, but I have no experience with these models ... or any Charvel for that matter. What is it about them that makes them so great? ..... Besides the fact that they look cool (which I completely agree with). Is it the neck shape and feel or what?
