Got this guitar in the other day and am very impressed. Very resonant unplugged. Neck feels great and harmonics leap off the board very easy. Still in the Honeymoon stage but being a huge fan of the movie and Vai, I just had to snag one of these. I'll try and post up some clips soon, if there is anyone that wants to listen.

Thanks guys. Man, this neck profile is impressing me big time.

That's really awesome!

Very cool! Does Charvel custom shop do any of the hockey puck headstocks with their logo? or just Jackson?

cool man!!! I got a custom shop Jackson soloist and I am VERY happy with it, couldn't be happier actually. It plays so easily, and sounds epic!! congrats on what must be an awesome guitar bro!!

I've looked around but the only Charvels I've seen with the Hockey style headstock are the older models. I had a mid eighties model 6 that I truly believe was just as nice as my 88 Jackson soloist.
Back to your question, all Charvels custom shop guitars I've seen have the Fender style headstock.

Here's a custom shop reverse pointy that's not that old. I don't recall the year but I'm sure psycodave remembers.

Wasn't the Jack Butler guitar from the movie a Chandler?

I read that it was a Jackson and they put electrical tape over the name to avoid any connection/confusion with the Jacksons (Michael, etc.).

remember to cover up the Jackson logo with black tape if anyone is filming you playing it ;)

Nice score!

Actually it was a Charvel with a Jackson logo that was taped over.

Charvel custom shop will build a pointy headstock for you with no problem. The reason you mainly see them with strat headstocks is because that is what everyone orders. In the 50 or so Custom Shops I have ordered for people only 1 or 2 went with pointy headstocks.
