NGD: Jackson Stars

I seem to be on a roll with the shreddy stuff lately, picked this up at my local store today and it´s a real nice one. It´s a Jackson Stars DK BN2007, which is one of the more elaborate bolt-on models they made with ebony fretboard, MOP logo, OFR and Duncans. And a mahogany body, which is fairly unusual for a Jackson. Really digging it so far, very good build quality and the neck isn´t too thin either.

Anyone have any nice Jackson Stars? They were for the japanese market, sure, but you see a couple floating around now and then.

Looks awesome! Just curious, is Stars an older Jackson series or what? I've never heard of it

Yeah, for whatever reason the domestic japanese line for parts of the late 90s and onward was called Grover Jackson or Jackson Stars. I think the Grover Jackson line was fairly similar to the japanese models that came to the west at that point, but the Stars line had a whole tier at the top that was more like the early 90s Pros or even the US stuff.

One small cool thing, at least since this presents more like an old school Jackson than something more modern, is the five-way switching with just two humbuckers. Back in the 80s, 90s and 00s Jackson was almost always straight-up series wiring as far as I recall, and split humbuckers were an Ibanez thing to me.
