Did you plug the damn thing in yet? I took a gamble on the SV20H. Should have it Friday.

Haha, yeah I've been jamming on it the last couple of days. I was going to record last night and post, but I got stuck in update fucking hell.
I needed to update Final Cut Pro, which made me update my MacOS, which made Pro Tool crash...since I got caught in the cycle, I went ahead to update everything (plugins, samples, etc...). I am hoping to finish up and record tonight or tomorrow at the latest...

How's it sound? Have you run it through a 4x12?

I’ve not played it through a 4x12, only through my Suhr Reactive Load and different IR’s.
I am not a Marshall expert or history buff on them, but I think it sounds like a stock, unmodded 80’s JCM would sound. It does not have crushing gain or anything, definitely not enough gain for me without OD out front.
Compared to my other amps, there is a bottom end thump that’s missing, but I think that’s to be expected. There are some good sounds there to be dialed in there though. I think people will like them.

The loop is a bit disappointing. There is a noticeable volume drop with it engaged, even with just a jumper cable. Not sure why that is. But it seems to be just a volume drop, not a tone loss. Not sure if that is normal on these are what.

Oh oh. Hope Mr Napalm doesn’t read this. ?

Interesting. Good review. Posting for clippage. Insides look a lot like my little Blackheart.

That loop issue would almost certainly explain those ICs, which are probably only running at 18v maximum for the FX loop.

So whilst you may rejoice that these ICs are not in the preamp signal path, when the loop is engaged they are and would impac the tone in some way. To me it was a bad choice by Marshall to include this outdated loop design in such a cool amp.

I’d be interested to know the chassis dimensions to see whether it would accomodate the loaded turret board I’ve got lying here waiting for a new home!!

I'm sure it's the same as the Mini Jube, which I barely noticed. I'll have things in the loop at all times, so I don't see an issue.

I definitely want to try the 20 watt JCM 800 with my pedals. Have to check the local GC or Sam Ash has one. I already have an Ironball, Tremonti (what an amp for the money) and my TC 50. But I have always wanted a nice sounding 800. This seems to be so cool :)

There was some discussion asking for it, so for those are curious in the money shot.
It sounded a little weak at first, so I took the back cover off to make sure everything was seated. Decided to go ahead an pull the thing out completely for those who asked.

Safe to say, cathode biased, no adjustment?

Yes it would seem so. If I had high res photos I could confirm via the cathode bias resistor(s) value.

A little disappointed with this to be honest. Probably still sounds good but unless you increase the cathode cap significantly they don’t respond like a fixed bias amp.

FINALLY got some time today after work..sorry it took so long.

Sounds really good through the suhr and impulse responses. Would like to hear the same with "in the room" recording. But sounds really good! Waiting for someone to do a side by side comparison with its big brother!

Missed your post here, thanks.
Can't do the in-the-room recording, I ended up taking it back to GC. It's a great little amp, but I just love my other amps more and for the $1400 ($1299 +tax) amount I just couldn't justify keeping it. I have too many other things I want.

Wow dude nice video! Lots attention to detail. So you returned it though? It sounds good but yeah doesn't sound like something I'd hang on to either.

Thanks dude. I liked it, but I like my other amps better and I know it would eventually I wouldn’t play it, so I couldn’t justify keeping.

$1299 for THAT?
i was expecting Tiny Terror prices for something like this.

Hi there.
Just to share this test I did... The volume drop when you turn on the loop is big....
I recorded a test from 0.5 to 2.0 in volume....
