A rip roaring tone machine!
Just got some guitars back from my tech with new pickups installed and the Afwayu-ML-Afwayu combo in my G&L Legacy USA is a standout.
Does clean to mean to scream without breaking a sweat. Very versatile pickup combo for a bright guitar.

Also got my Charvel Tiger Burst back with a Duncan Parallel Axis Distortion installed in the bridge and that one's not too shabby either.
The Parallel Axis pickups are some of Seymour's finest. I'm surprised they don't get more of a mention around the forums.

Sweet!
What does Afwayu stand for and is that pickup similar to a Super Distortion?
Thanks!

Rich ward used to use the parallel axis in his les Paul's during the mojo days.

I had a Charvel Custom with an Afwayu in the bridge...thick sounding pup with great articulation, more modern sounding than a SD but good mids...I would say its evenly voiced across the spectrum and has a very tight bass response. Doesn't cut like a JB but still cuts well...great pup.

I'm waiting for a 2nd Degree Black Belt to be wound at the moment.

No idea what the name stands for.
If I absolutely had to liken the Afwayu to a Dimarzio, I'd say that it does what the Tone Zone is touted as doing.
That is it thickens up a leaner sounding guitar without sacrificing control of the lows. It sounds juicy but tight at the same time.
For such a hot sounding pickup, it still has a kind of clean quality to it's character.
And as with all of Wade's bridge pickups I've tried, the mids really shine. The Afwayu's mids aren't as pronounced or in-your-face as the Hot Head or Detroiter models, but they are still very snarly and have a wicked grind to them.
This is another perfect pickup recommendation by Wade. Every time I seek his advice, he's right on target.

I'll get some clips done as soon as I get some free time.
Maybe do a head-to-head comparison against the Dragon Suit bridge when it gets here.

Ah another of my fave MCP's. The 2DBB's are awesome!

What does Afwayu mean:

"Modern - The Afwayu Humbucker

With 16.1k DC resistance, Vintage Cut Alnico 5, and vintage wire, this sonic "God of Fire" really opens up and pushes the amp into heaven. Slap mad gain at The Afwayu, and you might get slapped back! Hard! This humbucker was developed for high & low gain structures, for the artist that demands the best of both worlds."
