NGD! PRS Content!

Got me a new guitar on Monday. Thanks to a "heads up" from a fellow forumite on GAB, I looked on the Guitar Center website. They were doing something called "Guitar-a-Thon" and low and behold, they had the PRS I've been eyeing for AGES on a blowout price I just couldn't pass up.

The story:

Apparently this is a late model 2009 SC245. I am guessing it never sold because most PRS guys like a figured, candy-like top and these "metal" finishes (yes, that's what they are called) don't appeal to their core market. As I have watched the price drop over the last year and a half when I first saw it it came down from $3500 to $2900. They offered it to me for $2245 out the door about a 6 months ago.

When I checked the site Saturday night they had it stupid low at $1580! Called as soon as they opened on Sunday and had my boy put it on hold. When I went to get it Monday, the case was missing. No biggie. I have a TKL LP case. Got it for $1400!!! Not too shabby IMHO.

Tried it at rehearsal Tuesday and DAMN does it play like a dream. Really digging the pickups as well. Took me a minute to get used to how the knobs are laid out. Used to Gibson's control scheme.

Cool thing for me, I reached out to the PRS support team to get some info on the guitar. They did the Metal Finishes on quite a few guitars some time ago. I guess this is a variation the did on what the guys said was "less than a handful" of SC's.

Congrats! SC245 are great guitars and you got a great deal I'd have hit that for the price. FWIK those metal finishes were quite expensive.
I'm not really into PRS metal finishes but yours look nice as I usually dig black & red color combination.

Thanks! It's an amazingly great guitar. When I saw the sale price I couldn't pass it up. They have extended the sale and I am thinking of grabbing a PRS Studio in Orange Burst.

That sucks. The Vegas store has SOME cool stuff. Wish I could get the Carvin and Edwards moved.

Fucking love my PRS, plays better than anything I've ever owned, and I'm sure this one is no exception...

Killer man!! I love the Metal finishes....have ALWAYS wanted one but have always been way out of my price range (originals are in the 15k range now...)

Congrats!!! Im GASing like crazy for a PRS singlecut to go with my Custom 22. I dig the black with red striping or "metal" finish. Good to hear you got a good deal as well.

One man's chicken, ya know! LOL! It certainly is not for everyone but it does play amazingly well. You certainly feel/see/hear the attention t detail that went into it. I have scoffed PRS guitars for years. I feel like getting this for such a steal is like when people say pot is a "gateway" drug. I'm already jonesing for more!

personally i think the singlecuts are the best guitars PRS makes, and that one being so unusual is a steal at that price, great snag!

Looks like some of the one-off finishes they were doing a couple years ago. I picked up a Korina McCarty with racing stripes from this experimental phase (mine's an 08), and it's still a go to piece for me.

Did it come with the hangtag? All of the one offs that I've seen have a "GEN" code on the tag. They don't list the specific options like the normal ones do.

Nice! I finally got to run it with my Quick Rod last night at a gig and holy shit it sounded glorious. I'm digging the 57/08's so far.

I didn't think to grab the hang tag. I am really digging the hell out of it. Got a lot of folks asking about if at last nights gig.
