Never owned a Gibson or a Les Paul style guitar, but decided to try one. About a month ago I picked up a PRS SC 594 McCarty and really liked it. The shorter 24.594 inch scale length felt so comfortable I started wanting the try the SC245 which is the 24.5 inch scale length, not that .094 inch made a big difference, but wanted to try the SC245 none the less. This came up on Reverb and was within driving distance to pick up locally. Got a good price.

Feels and plays great. Loving it. This pic is from the seller, but about as good as I could take anyway.

That looks GREAT!

I’ve been eyeing these lately as well as I find myself wanting a single cut more and more. Yours is certainly one of the nicer tops I’ve seen pop up. I’m torn between one of these and an Edwards, Burny or Epiphone. I *really* love ebony finger boards and there are a few Epi LPC’s out there with them and the full, thick bodies. Once this coronacocksucker is done with I’m going to try out a few 245’s to see how the neck feels. I know my chances of scoring a great playing/sounding PRS are MUCH higher than scoring a killer Epiphone.

You can get good prices on the SC245 since PRS stopped making them and replaced with the 594 model. Reverb currently starts around $1200 and goes up from there. If you go SE (made in Korea) 245, they start pretty low at a couple hundred bucks on Reverb.

That looks great! Love the vintage type burst in the teardrop.

I must have missed the 1200 dollar deals on em. Been eyeing for a couple months. 16 hundo was the lowest I saw on on the terdverb site Congrats on the sweet axe !!!

This was the lowest I saw, it does not have the birds on the fretboard, but looks like it was reduced from $1200 to $1000 (I have no affiliation with seller).

That is a beauty! Many congrats!
I wish that PRS would make a single cut Floyd. Man, I would buy one instantly!

Is there a particular reason why they don’t to the nice wood edge binding on the body of the black/gold guitars? I rarely see one with that.

Congrats! Killer guitar and it sounds like you got a smoking deal!

Nice score man! I came close so many times with SC245's but end up chickening out last minute. Usually I can't make up my mind on the top.

I had one I bought new for $2400 as an NOS. The thing that I couldn't justify was the hype of the pickups. It was a 2015 and had the highly coveted 58/15's. However, I found nothing amazing at all. I found them bland, kinda like '57 Classics, or other PAF wannabes.

Here's the insane part.. People are selling them for $500 a set, (and people eat them up like candy).

I sold the guitar, but in hindsight, I should have put Duncans in it, and made a killing on selling the pickups.

Cool man! I'll check out. HNGD! That's a sweet axe

I didn't know they used the two-piece bridge on 245's. I always thought they used their standard wraparounds.

Their regular single cuts are the usual wraps but the 245 and 594 are the two-piece bridges. I wish they did the knob wiring like Gibsons.

That is gorgeous dude! I love that style of burst and a tobacco style too.

Have an MC58 with 57/08’s. They are beautiful for cleans and light crunch , not so much for high gain .. the way I like it anyways.
Much prefer the old PRS treble / bass pickups as they hold together better as the gain increases.

Which are the "regular single cuts", then? Because the 250's are not around anymore, are they? I mean, other than the Tremonti which has the trem (which always looked way off in a SC IMO) and the Tremonti Baritone (which is 25.5" and not very "regular SC"-y), I don't think there's anything else being made with the SC shape, is there? In the core line, I mean.

Seems like I read somewhere during my research that the earlier 245’s had the single piece bridge, they changed it somewhere around 2013, maybe 2010 or so.

Thanks everyone for the HNGD wishes. Pretty cool guitar, kind of a world (singleCut) I never explored until recently.
