In April, a 2nd hand Mongoose Special was for sale at godlyd.no. It was the one I had been GASsing for when it was originally for sale at Godlyd but couldn't afford it. I was saving up for a Mongoose now, but still didn't had the money for it. I contacted Deb@Godlyd a couple days after I saw it and she told me it was sold. Oh well...

FFWD 3 months and I have my birthday coming up (next Monday). My girlfriend had already told me that she bought me a big present but I had no clue what it was. I thought she bought a Ceriatone Overtone as she knows I want one. There was some trouble getting the item into the country, Belgian customs screwed up and so delivery ended up being delayed. But finally it arrived last Friday. By now, my girlfriend was tired of keeping this secret and decided to give me my present a week early.

Much to my surprise, it wasn't an amp but I got a nice G&G case. I had no idea what to expect so when I opened it, it was a HUGE surprise to find that particular Mongoose in it. The guitar I had been lusting for and got sold from under my nose actually turned out to be MINE now. Not only a huge surprise but the best present ever. My girlfriend (+15years) is DEFINITELY a keeper!!

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the guitar but it might very well be the best guitar I have ever played. Sorta ES335-meets-LP. It doesn't have the low mids/lows of a LP but sounds huge and fat nonetheless. Very balanced, very controlled, no muddyness even on high gain settings. It sustains for days. The neck is super comfortable and at a bit over 7 pounds the guitar feels great on a strap. Simply stunning work from JT again.

Big thanks to Deb and Magne at Godlyd for playing along with this little scam

Haven't made my own picks so you'll have to do with these from Godlyd:

Thanks everybody, JTs S-style guitars are amazing but a Mongoose is seriously stunning. It is so comfortable and it sings and sings even with my playing

My excuses for butchering this solo but this is guitar is just to much fun to play. Testing some different sounds with it and these came out ok.

Yeah wtf is that controller????

Cool vids Yoeri.

Thanks guys. The midi-controller is a Gaspedal by Guitar-systems. http://www.guitar-systems.com/gaspedal.html
It's a great controller, doesn't have all the bells and whistles as some others but it is build to last and has some cool features (e.g. dimmer for the lights). I was one of the 1st to get one and a beta-tester. We ironed out a couple of software bugs and added some features. It comes with a java-based software to program it from your pc and to do remote control.

Congrats! That looks like a cross between a Les Paul and a Tele a little bit. That MIDI controller is a monster!! It is freaking expensive too at $1700.
