Well the LP Custom didn't work out for shit, but I still want a 8lb or less Gibson scale rock guitar. So I'm going to give this a go:

It's got kind of a '70s vibe with the double creams. Sort of a Kiss thing, which even though I'm of the wrong generation to give a shit about Kiss it's a good look. They're '57 Classic/Plus - have to see if they're keepers. I like Explorers better than LPs so this is probably a better fit anyways.

Got some Hamer vibes going on there. That's one of the nicest guitars I've seen in awhile. Cool.

Yeah I thought that too - I definitely did a double take before I saw the headstock. Of course there's 70's explorers that look like that too which is probably where Hamer got the idea.

Yeah the extra 4 frets or whatever of high fret access make Explorers a lot easier to deal with than LPs, at least for me.

I'm hoping this works out too - I'm tired of being on the phone with guitar dealers.

I was using 57 classics all weekend. They are among my favorite pickups, especially the bridge. Fat n juicy. Congrats on your purchase.

I'll just have to see - it's been 20+ years since I've owned a solidbody with 57 classics, and that was a '59 RI I owned for about a day before I sold it to Rick Nielsen. Which hurt, but got me out of a jam so I'm glad he was buying. But I honestly don't remember much about them and wasn't a very good player then anyways.
