I have been wanting a single cut for awhile and finally pulled the trigger. I ordered an LTD-EC1000t that I sent back because it was an older model. Normally I would have just kept it but the fact that I called GC and specifically asked them if it was one of the newer models with SS frets and they said yes. Then when it showed up not only was it an older model it looked like it was a used model.
So I went back to the drawing board and spent a few days shopping then I went to Sam Ash last Sunday and tried out a bunch of single cuts. The Gibson LP Tribute was absolutely terrible, 60's LP standard was nice, Slash sig and the 50's standard was a little to thick at the neck for my taste, then the classic was in the zone of I can see myself buying this and being happy.
So a week later here it is. I got an Ebony Les Paul classic and I have to say I'm even happier about it than I was at the store. The push pull knobs add a lot of tonal options plus it's kind of a classic look to where it would look at home on someone playing death metal or someone playing indie. This is the first Gibson I have owned since I was a kid in 1995. I've owned several Epiphones but as much as I wish it wasnt true they werent the same.
