dunno why, but for some reason I'm just not liking the looks of floyds on strats these days. Man they work flawlessly, but starting to like the look of the traditional trem way more. I must be getting more traditional as I get older lol even stopped using bucker sized pickups lol

I hear you. I've always leaned towards more traditional but have had a few superstrats. They don't look as cool to me and they don't get used as much. They work great once setup though for sure.

  You guys are trippin'...Floyds make a guitar look like a goddamn spaceship. A guitar-that's a spaceship...who wouldn't want that?! :rawk: :m17: :jedi: :force: :jedi: :force:

Well... me for one

I've always thought they look ridiculous. Even when I used them.

I will NEVER own one again. Can't stand them.

Love em, no substitute if you want to stay in tune.......

After a 5 year break I am starting to get back into them!

You just cant beat the tuning stability, and the nice feel on your hand!

it's the hat. It's causing decreased blood flow to your brain.

I have had numerous usa strats and mm guitars in the past 8 years never went out of tune...ie a Floyd edge etc love the guitars they are on....not so much when need to down tune or break a string live..

Confused, are you saying these are std trem guitars? Really? Never went out of a tune? In 8 years? Even a little? Are you gigging or playing at home? Sorry but not buying it. I know all the tricks and have many non Floyd guitars and if you use the bar they will go out -even if its just a little. I have 2 identical Suhr's one w/Floyd one w normal 510 trem and and the Floyd never go out and even the 510 will go out of tune a little at times during the set. With the Floyd I can play the whole set and when I check tuning sure enough dead on.

they are dual post bridges, nut grease and proper setup rarely lose tune esp with locking tuners. Ive been playing Ibanez charvel etc since 88 and have had better luck with these. And play every weekend 4-5hrs a show and no I would not use a guitar that goes out of tune during a set buy that or not....

prior to the last 8 years I was strictly an Ibanez lo pro etc guy, always had issues esp if I wanted a dif tuning. Got into Mayer and started buying usa strats and never looked back. Still love some of my Ibanez gtrs though...They just don't see much use live which sux..

of course this is stating im not blackmoring or vai type whammy usage lol..

Curious, trems floating or not? I like mine to float. I do all the same things you suggest and they stay in tune really well but not perfect like the floyded guitars. I have locking tuners, nut sauce, well set up and lubed. I'm not saying they go out a lot but for me even a little bothers me. They Floyds never go out even a little. Actually bought a second Suhr with Floyd for that very reason, we play in E and another guitar in Eb so now both are Floyed guitars and I have zero issues.

Floyds rule. When I see a beautiful Suhr or Anderson, and they have a vintage trem, I immediately don't like the guitar!

pffttttt too good for humbuckers too eh? double whammy! That said, man was John Norum's single coil tone tasty!

The problem I have with a vintage trem is that the set screws that adjust the saddle heights cut into my hand when playing. That is why I don't use them. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm confused.

Do you guys still use whammy bars? Honest question. I haven't touched one in 20+ years.

I don't even want to hear one unless you're Jeff Beck. Otherwise they sound ridiculous. IMO.

I know what you mean. My last Strat needed a neck shim, so I could crank the saddles higher (and keep the screws lower) ! Much harder to adjust saddle heights on a Floyd - but there are no sharp edges to hurt your palm!

And Ron, I use the Floyd all the time. You can't play Panama without a good whammy!

Original floyd roses are amazing engineering contraptions! I got away from them years ago, but never had tuning issues while I gigged with them... If you managed to break a string (happened once.. maybe twice in about 90 shows) your f'd. That said, keep fresh strings on it and tune it before the gig and your golden.
