not liking the look of floyds these days

I like the way they feel and look on the right guitar. I personally wouldn't want one on a Les Paul styler guitar but I really like them on a superstrat.

Sometimes to me, they do look like a small automobile sitting on top of the guitar and sometimes they look cool. I was digging the look of the non fine tuner version SAH5150 put on his recent parts guitar--bigger than a standard trem and less than a normal Floyd.

I still love the look of the Original Floyd myself. Perhaps your tastes are changing a bit. I for one didn't care for anything but the OFR until I bough a LP in 2012. I have over 20 floyded super strats still but a LP hater turned into a LP lover. I was able to get used to them fairly easily and now want to diversify, grab a few teles and vintage trem strats and get rid of some floydded ones

Charvel plus 80's Floyd FTW!

I'm confused.

Do you guys still use whammy bars? Honest question. I haven't touched one in 20+ years.

I don't even want to hear one unless you're Jeff Beck. Otherwise they sound ridiculous. IMO.
Of course some of us do...but I play all 80's stuff. I just can't quite seem to "mature" into playing age appropriate tepid noodler blues/rock with less gain and thick strings and trans finishes and of course the neutered Floyd-less axe.

But I play Ridiculous-Core, so it works well

Personally I love the look of a Floyd, the feel of a non-recessed dive only one under my hand (nice flat base to rest on due to saddle shape), the tone of them with a big brass block, the bulletproof tuning stability, the quick change to a drop tuning with a d-tuna and the string spacing of the bridge and an R3 nut on a 1 11/16" neck with a 2 1/4" heel. I actually don't abuse the bar all that much. I can pick up a guitar with a Floyd play for two hours and never touch the bar once. Another day I may write a whole riff based around bar abuse so it's nice to have it but it doesn't meant you always have to use it. I much prefer non-recessed dive only Floyds to full floating however.

I always will have a Floyd equiped guitar. I have tried to go the vintage route and I hated it.

For me though, I love them on a Les Paul! Both of mine are absolutely killer and versatile axes in every way!
