So im back in a band again now, and at full stage volumes im starting to realise im not satisfied tone-wise with certain things.. And im mainly noticing that im not really diggin the neck pickup in my GMW Strat!
The guitar is just Hum/Single in layout with no middle pickup. I have the Anderson H3 in the bridge and its by far the best pickup i have tried!! In the neck position, I tried the Duncan Little 59, the hot rails, the cool rails, etc etc. I think im more of a full size humbucker kinda guy.. These single coil sized humbuckers dont sound the same IMO, i have tried the Duncan models and also several Dimarzio models too.. only to be left unsatisfied with the tone. I prefer a thick smooth neck pickup tone, more LP type neck pickup tones.
Thinking of ditching the Hum/Single layout and going for a Hum/Hum pickguard and loading in an Anderson neck humbucker to go with the H3 in the bridge.
I like the neck pickup to be nice and thick/warm sounding, but with a little bit more output than the Lil 59 i had before...
Not sure whether to go with the H1 or the H1+?
Anderson pickup users chime in please
Cheers!
