Looking at a used Mills slant 4 12 with v30's. Anyone played these? And specifically with a dual rec or a mark iv? How do they sound?

I haven't. But have been interested in them. There is another company that makes some pretty wicked custom cabs for a reasonable price. They'll do what ever dimensions, and there are custom options as well.

Check it out some time. http://www.krazycabz.com/

i love mine for the heavies.

i is well built

it is records great

v30's work great in em

how much they asking?

Get a used Rectifier Cab. Mesa cabs match well with Mesa amps.

I played an Afterburner 212 and didn't like it for the price. I would take a cheaper Splawn, Bogner, Stone Age and a few others over the Mills.

I would not get anything other then a Mesa Cab if you are using a Mesa amp. I tried it with a Bogner Cab and it doesn't sound good.

I used a dual rec w/an afterburner cab. I thought it sounded great. Way better projection than a boogie cab.

 there was a thread about how bad Mills cabs are. Read that first.

they are great cabs IMO. Well built, project well, and have a really thick tight lowend. Their construction is top notch, great materials, and a design that lends itself well to the heavies. Not going to be everyone's end all, but definitely not a "bad" cab. Now their current business practices...

This.

I've owned both Boogie recto 4x12s and Mills, and I kept the Mills.

The Boogies are really good. The Mills are better, imho.

Didn't like the Afterburner 4X12B I had and I couldn't dump it fast enough. Also, do your homework. Funny stuff going down with them lately.

there does seem to be a lot of hate there lately.

i much prefered it over the mesa recto v30 cabs.

much tighter, much better prjection without breaking up,

works with a lot of different heads, and not just mesa

he is getting it used, so no worries about business practice and such.

650 loaded is a good price.

just remember that it is bigger than regualar 4x12 and even bigger than mesa oversized recto.

so you better have a trucK

Some people don't like oversized cabs. So that's the first consideration.
But mine's a main recording cab, and there are many from which to choose.

hell id just grab it to see for myself. everybody used to praise those cabs back before the company got sketchy. idk if 650 is a bad price, but if its in good condition id probably jump on it. i bet it wouldn't be hard to resell either, so many people online have heard the mills reputation and threads about them pop up all the time on various boards.

Looks to be in perfect condition but it's white So in dunno about resale.

I have a mills 4x12b I am selling for the same price. it is black with salt pepper n grill cloth and gold piping. has eminence governors in it and sounds amazing. it is mint. I live in champaign il. pm me if interested.

$650 is nothing when it comes to finding out for yourself whether you like or no like. Hell, I'd pay for BOTH the cabs offered (the above one AND the white one), get both, A/B them and then sell the one you don't want.

Recent business practices aside, Mills have been a fantastic cab maker - and there's no need to get all sketched out about the used Mills market - just buy it and try it. Will certainly be worth the $650 in cabbage if it ends up being all that and then some.

Buy both - try 'em - dump one.

Peace,
Mo
