Now: VHT Pitbull 50cl//Fryette deliverance 60: thoughts?

I'm the guy with the Deliverance that Colim was going to trade for. I actually googled "Trade Fryette Deliverance" and stumbled into this.

Colim understandably backed out on account of the value discrepancy I think, and I certainly don't blame him. In a certain sense I'm slightly relieved also because a) I love the D60 and it's a GREAT recording amp or live amp for certain situations and b) after doing a little research I'm finding bad things about the Roadster's effects loop sucking tone, and I use a Quadraverb pretty extensively live for its reverbs, delays, and modulation (part of why I'd have gotten rid of the D60 as well).

Truth be told, I'd have tried the Roadster but would have walked away if it wasn't my sound. I've heard great things about it but, for whatever reason, I've always had trouble getting my types of sounds out of a Recto, even though many of the guitarists I listen to use them.

The reason I'd have wanted to trade was because I can't really do the single channel thing right now in a live setting, and I need a good backup amp. I need a pristine clean, a pushed sound, and a great high gain sound. A graphic EQ would be great also. What would be the best value I could get in trade for a D60H? I would need at least 2 channels (I can use an OD and/or graphic EQ pedal to boost if necessary) but 3 or more channels would be ideal. Do you think a D60H would be a fair trade for a Pittbull 50-CL or 100-CL (with EQ)?

If someone was willing to do that you would get a solid steal. But most likely you would have to give them cash on top of the amp. The D60 has great cleans when dialed in right but you cant exactly do that on the fly when playing a show.. Especially if the song you are playing has a clean part in it lol. I say keep the D60 and buy something else! Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Yeah, I did back out because of the value difference. I offered to trade if he would add cash on top, and he said he couldn't add cash, but would throw in a peavey VTM, which is one of my least favorite amps I've ever heard. Just fyi

I should add that personally, I've found the effects loop on the roadster to be one of the best effects loops I've ever heard.

Also, I didn't back out. We hadn't agreed to a deal, only to meet and check out the amps.

a boost on the D60 takes it to another level....use the less switch, gain about 75% and boost that shit....also master volume at least al 9 o clock :D

Sorry. I didn't mean it in that sense but you are correct.

Sounds like its moot now but the D60 is a killer amp. I absolutely love the D60 couple with the D412 or D212.

One thing of note, nhowever, is that even at higher gain settings it is not a modern high gainer that "plays itself." The returns are great but you'll have to work for it.

I'd certainly like to hear one. My style right now (and for a long time) is pretty sludgy when heavy and pretty spacey on the lead type stuff. No technical. But I'm more and more drawn to a minimal approach, and the idea of getting what I can out of a tight/dry amp only through how i play is pretty appealing. We'll see. I may eventually have to break my one amp rule.

Now I've been offered a VHT 50cl. Thoughts? I really don't know much about VHT/fryette, except a lot of praise for them on RT.

Cheers

If you come through STL, you can play my 100w Pitbull and try it out :)

I love it, but I would also love a Deliverance.

They are very brutal amps but alot love it or hate it, I love it. I will admit it is a little weird at times, to be as negative as I can the Pitbull 100w has an almost hollow mid, but very responsive depending on how you play.

Different tubes/speakers have a drastic change with this amp as well.

Go to fryette-user forums, its kind of dead for traffic but alot of good threads and sound clips over there.

I dont think ill ever get rid of my Pitbull and am fiending for a Deliverance and I will have one some day :)

Ideally I would like them both, like an A/B or just have my other guitarist use one and me the other. I think that would be the best metal sound in that price range.

I loved the 50CL I played. I would use it as two gain channels. Green was an awesome high gain, hard rock sound. The red was a bit too much for me; very aggressive and very metal. I only played it for a few minutes, so I'm not sure how well the channels can be dials back for clean sounds or how good the loop is. My only real issue is that it didn't have a very wide "sonic footprint." Next to a VH4, it wasn't nearly as thick or meaty. But it does have tremendous snarl and a very cool voicing. I'm told that the Deliverance (and maybe the Sig:X) is thicker and meatier than the Pittbulls, but still have the great snarl. A big caveat: I played it through a Marshall cab with V30s. The proper Fryette cab may make a world of difference, too.

Hm. That doesn't sound good. Last thing I want is a thin sounding head

There are many incarnations of the Pittbull. Not all are the same.
I'm only qualified to talk about my early G-100 Pittbull.
It's mean, aggressive, clear, tight and balanced. Not too much or too little of anything freq wise.

The vh4 is a hundred water right?

My 50 cl with the EQ engaged will take your kneecaps off... With a closed 2x12. V 30's.

Most percussive amp I've played, owned. Big snarky 3D tonez

You can dial a channel for clean, just not pristine, still a lil grit. Gotta use the guitar controls. Easy with a Paul. Kick ass loop.

Seriously man do it, you owe it to yourself to at least try one out.

He's comparing it to a VH4 man.... CL50 = $2000, VH4 = $4300
The VH4 is going to sound fuller but that doesn't mean the cl50 is thin by any means at all.
