Very well! These things respond very well to boost pedals too, unlike certain other Engls
And a Diezel power amp doesn't hurt either

That's actually my "big rig" today. A 530, a G-major, and an Marshall EL34 50/50.Primal Fear used these preamps live with the big Marshall Power Amps for the tours over the first 3-4 albums - sounded awesome, enjoy!
Try boosting channel 2 on the lo-gain setting. It can get downright brutal and tight that way. (It's really a 2-channel preamp, so I mean the low gain setting on the overdrive channel)Oh word? Yeah never boosted my old one. One thing I wish more amps had, like this does, is the separate low mid and high mid controls. Between those and the contour button there’s just a shit tone of tones.

I’ve seen those GT pre’s but never had the opportunity to try one.One of my favorite rigs of all time was an E530 running in tandem with a Groove Tubes Trio preamp - sounded absolutely huge.
