That's actually my "big rig" today. A 530, a G-major, and an Marshall EL34 50/50.

Try boosting channel 2 on the lo-gain setting. It can get downright brutal and tight that way. (It's really a 2-channel preamp, so I mean the low gain setting on the overdrive channel)

One of my favorite rigs of all time was an E530 running in tandem with a Groove Tubes Trio preamp - sounded absolutely huge.
