More adventures in color! So after spraying my purple Tele I was less than impressed with the purple Unicorn Spit stained Charvel Mutt style Strat...also decided Strats are no longer in my wheelhouse. Thinking I would refinish and sell it I took the guitar apart, sanded the clear off because I was worried about compatibility (vs spraying right over it) but then thought WTF? How bout I just take some blue Unicorn Spit to the sand throughs and hit it with my remaining purple candy??? What’s the worst that can happen??? Got the blue on, hit it with some Mohawk catalyzed sanding sealer to seal it then went for it...Suffice to say I’m really happy with the result, thing freaking glows now...will likely finish with some 2K clear...I was gonna sell the body but it’s cool enough to just keep now

Thanks man! I predict its going to look mental after I get some 2K clear on it. This gave me some other ideas of how to use the Unicorn Spit but with a candy color vs just a regular clear finish. This kind of has a Tyler "Shmear" thing going on, I'm going to try some other stain > sand back > stain the exposed wood > candy clear combos....that's basically how PRS does all their wild stained maple tops (stain > sand back > restain) but I'm not sure they're using any candy's.

Yeah especially when you see the first two photos which were after I sanded it back then re-stained the exposed areas > next two after shooting the Mohawk catalyzed sanding sealer brought some color back > then the candy buildup As soon as the first purple candy coat was on it I knew I was on to something that was gonna be cool. I almost just grey primered it but thought what the fuck, I've got one chance now to see what will happen, I can primer over that if its a trainwreck hahaha. Looking forward t getting some 2K clear on it now.
