Yeah I just got a phone call today from the music store that order a new Triaxis from and Mesa Boogie is just now finishing up building it and is going to ship next week.

got my fingers crossed.

They still make them?

No they don't. I order my prior to Mesa Boogie discontinuing the Triaxis. Mesa Boogie found the parts to make ones on they had on order from other people including myself. Which I am sure once this batch has been put together and shipped off they are no longer going to make these preamps anymore.

I had a Triaxis for a long time. Probably still would if I didn't break it =D.

My Tri shined best when paired with a 2:90 and Mesa 4X12. AND when I had the Fat Mod removed. (I had the version with the recto board) While I spent a lot of time on Lead 2 red, especially for leads, lead 1 red was a BEAST with no fat mod and the modern/deep engaged on the 2:90. I actually liked the DV, and felt a lot of times Lead 2 really needed it. Mesa doesn't recommend using it with Lead 1, but hell I did anyway =D.

Read the manual very well and be careful, as others have said, of the Bass, especially in Lead 2. To get more "thump" I had to use the DV, as the bass too high is just flub. You have to experiment a lot, but I found all the Lead modes useful, and could get any tone I really wanted, from classic rock to complete face melt. Also, the interplay between the Gain and Drive for the lead channels is extremely important. You can set them equal, but usually setting one higher/lower than the other can drastically alter your tone.

It's a Mesa, so never a tune knobs and go kind of amp, but very rewarding once you figure it out. Good luck!

IMO the non phat mod versions are where its at. Great sound. I owned 2 at once and ran the Lead 1 red in conjunction with the Lead 2 yellow. :)

Agree. I had mine modded by Mesa to take out the Fat Mod. I really liked it before that was out but LOVED it when it was taken off. It made Lead 1 Red useful and that channel is just awesome.

Lol Lead 1 Red and Lead 2 yellow at once?

I hope they make a new MIDI programmable multi-voice pre-amp to replace the Triaxis. It's a very cool piece of gear. A preamp with the modern Recto and JP2C style circuits in one box would be pretty nice.

Like mine, with the fat mod, 2:90, G-system, 2 1x12 cabs in stereo. After all of the criticism of Ld 1 Red,I decided to dig into it, and found there's lots of good sounds in there - maybe it fell short of some folks' Boogie expectations, but I'm finding some good tones. Drives in varying lower ranges works pretty cool. Drop a pedal in front, and you've got something happening too!

I finally got to spend some time with it yesterday, and I´m really happy with it. The cleans are wonderful, as good as my old Rivera which lived somewhere inbetween the two clean channels here, and I got some nice and ripping tones out of the Lead 2 yellow too. It really does tweak and sound much like the other Boogies I owned and played before, so it very much feels like a proper product in that lineage from the Marks and the old preamps.

yup vintage and hyper cleans and lead 2 yellow were the sounds i used most as well and the recording outs monitoring the hyper clean with compresison and delay/chorus/verb was petrucci pull me under city!

dynamic voice was the weakest link. i'd rather have the analog 5 band inserted in the loop set to one good thing than the millions of dynamic voice options

Yeah, I´ve not messed around nearly enough with the dynamic voicing to say anything about it, but the regular ol´ graphic would probably be better. That stand-alone graphic always looked like a pedal to me, though, does it really work with hot line level signals? That you can power it from a 9V battery always seemed fishy to me, but from the massive amounts of attenutation it has I guess you´re supposed to pad the input way down on the input and boost some of it back up in the outputs.

The 5 band EQ found in the Mark amps is not the same as the 5 band EQ pedal that Mesa makes, but I think it's one of the best on the market. Same frequencies and such, but huge difference in headroom, components, etc. Never had an issue using one of the pedals with a Triaxis.
