NPD: Z. Vex Fuzz Factory

I picked this pedal up recently. It's a hand painted Z. Vex Fuzz Factory (the 189th one made to be exact). This thing is really cool. It takes tons of time to mess with it to get a good sound out of it, but it's definitely fuzzy and wacky like it's supposed to be. It's picky on what you're plugging into it and what you're plugging it into for sure as well. It sounded like shit through my Mesa, but it sounds great through my Peavey. Very odd but cool pedal.

I've opened it up and it is honestly one of the simplest pedals circuitry-wise...it's really ridiculous what they go for compared to what they actually are...

I had a red reverse version that I got back in '99 but sold it when it became a collectable. Cool pedal but not a good choice for live use...very minute changes on the knobs can produce drastic results.

Its basically a Fuzz Face with an extra gain stage and variable resistors added

I enjoyed mine while I had it but it didn't like the other pedals I had on my board. Just didnt play nicely.

Thanks dude. I tried a ton of those yesterday to get to a setting a like. I can't remember which one now, but I took a picture to make sure I knew how to set the knobs if it got bumped.

My favorite setting is easy to remember ....

First knob set to taste.
Next two point at each other (3and9 o'clock)
Last two on full.
I just fine tune from there to make it work with the other gear.
Just a wall of sound.
