Reactive load day that is...Suhr RL

Ordered it Thursday afternoon off reverb ($280 to my door...I thought was a good deal). Anyway, Thing showed up before lunch today! Killer piece of gear,,,,you guys were already hip to that.

Question: when running “silent”, to/through interface to daw, using IRs, do you guys run the DI on the Suhr full tilt? Is there a defecto sweet spot?

Thanks

Run the volume on the RL the highest that you can, ideally wide open. It sounds great either way, but if you can use it without attenuating you'll get the best results. I leave the volume on the RL all the way up and bring the interface input level down, only if I drop the interface input to zero and still clip then I'll start to back the Reactive Load down.

..ok, different question...
How about getting that feedback...can it be done whilst running silent, IR?

Appreciate the feedback.

'nother question... (some folks are pains in the ass ;) )

how, or do you, monitor your playback from DAW? Earphones/cans, monitors? What's the best way (i guess)?...set the playback through mixer out to phones or monitors?

thanks again for the help with these newb ?'s

I always use headphones until everything is recorded then go to monitors. My interface has outputs for both.

Since I mostly record silently at night I monitor using headphones through the interface's headphone output, but if I'm working during the day and noise isn't an issue then I'll use monitors. The only drawback to monitoring this way is it isn't cab simulated.

So....no way to hear/monitor the processed/simulated guitar, live/whilst playing ? :dunno:

Reaper has the monitor on/off/auto option of course, but the latency there is a no-go...and sadly I don't have the CPU harrumph to keep up...so to speak.

I really appreciate feedback from you fellas

I've only used Two Notes Wall of Sound for cab simulation, which doesn't allow for real time monitoring - at least the older version I'm using. There may be plugins/IR loaders that do work in real time while recording that I'm not aware of, maybe others can chime in there.

I don't use the monitoring through DAW either but my Focusrite allows direct monitoring of the signal as it comes into the interface so there isn't any latency.

Yea I can monitor real time from my interface, but as you said, it's raw amp...which without the cab simulation...ain't real good. ?

That's what I do i have really gotten to like my Scarlett for that and other monitoring options. Now I just have to re-learn the software. Lol. I am not a well suited computer person.

...whilst recording, I lay down two tracks simultaneously..every now and again one track drops out for a few seconds then pick back up.

Is this a reaper issue
CPU issue
RL issue

Thanks guys!
