Just installed four BM75's in one of my cabs last night. Spent a few hours playing them through my BE100 and PT100. I will say that the BM75 is hands-down my favorite speaker yet from Scumback. I just can't believe how good these sound...a very special speaker. Highly recommended! Thx Jim!

Happy NSD.

The BM75 is what I've been using with my F. modded Marshall for a while now and while I've put other speakers through it, nothing else compares.

They cut like a knife through the mix.

HNSD! You'll love the BM's
I run a 2x12 BM75/M75 100w for a special blend

Congrats! I'm thinking about mixing in some Scummies as my v30s just aren't doing it for me....

How do they compare to his M75s? Clips?

I am interested as well. I have a couple M75LHDC's that I love.

The M75's are warmer and have a 'fatter' attack. The highs are not too round as they still cut and the midrange is warm and precise.

The BM75's are brighter; have tighter lows and more focused midrange with an aggressive top end. Super percussive as well.

Thanks! I might prefer what I already have if this is the case.

What wattage did you go with?

I really want to try some bh75s, but don't have any open slots right now.

65W 16OHM.

Or was that directed at SuperUnknown? Lol

Αs far as I can tell from the discriptions the BM75 is more like the greenback RI...
More attack and highs...
Am I right?

I have a BM75 right now in a Diezel ported 1x12 but also tried it in my open-back Einstein combo (which has the stock V30 back in it). Compared to your standard G12M Greenbacks or G12-65s, the BM75 has a MUCH more aggressive midrange. Lots of bite. Brighter and somewhat raspy top-end. Low end ain't bad. But not as tight as the G12-65. This speaker is great for classic rock a'la AC/DC. Not so much for high-gain as it can become too grating. It's definitely not a smooth speaker.

I think for my purposes, I may have preferred a regular M75 or a BM-75 Large Dust Cover to smooth out the highs a bit.

Interesting take on it. I know ideas of tone can differ greatly.

When I use my Friedman, the BM75's have everything you mention but with a much sweeter top end. Still stings but I've never found it to be raspy.

I tried the BM75's with both an M75 and an H75 in an x-pattern at different times. The H75/BM75 was a cool blend but it smoothed things out a little too much. The M75/BM75 was a love hate thing as the speakers felt like they were fighting each other for control of the mix.

I love my quad of BM75's too. I go the BM75 LHDC 65watters.
To me they have most of the core M75 tone but have an extra bite on top that puts it imbetween a M75 and H75. I wonder if anyone has mixed BM's and M's?

I am running the BE100 W/D/W with an eventide eclipse and two Mesa 1x12's....really rocks.

I have a PT100 showing up today as well...should be fun!

It could also be the rest of my signal chain. My guitar is mid-heavy. My pickups are mid-heavy. My amp is EQ'd to be mid-heavy. I think the BM75 has the most emphasis in the mid range out of any speaker I've used. No matter how I set the mid range on my amp, could not dial out the rasp in the upper mids of this speaker. I put it in the 1x12 cab to use as an extension when I want to play classic rock type of stuff. It does very well for that sort of thing. Just not high-gain.

I've been finding that lots of the ported cabs impact the speaker tone negatively. The Port City and Forte don't, but I've never seen/tried the Diezel cab, so I'm not sure about that one. I know Celestion doesn't recommend ported cabs for use with their speakers, so maybe they just don't mix that well.

Of course any ported cab design has to be specifically made of a particular speaker's frequency response to be the most effective, too. Maybe the Diezel has a different type speaker (50 oz V30 magnet for example) as it's target, but I'm not sure, maybe it's another model.

I'd probably leave it in a closed or open back 1x12 as the best tone option with the BM75. Good luck!

You are welcome, sir! Thanks for the kind words you've posted.

I agree with Jim...I ran a Port City OS 2x12 with M75's and it had too much low end and didn't sound right with the amp I had or speakers. It led me to get rid of the amp but it was the ported cab that threw off the tone.
Ported could work with some amps...don't think it's a good idea with Marshall's/scumbacks..YMMV

The Einstein combo is open-back. And it sounded pretty much the same in there. It's just more directional in the ported 1x12. Same tone, though.
