Because I listened to Diamond so many times when I was a teen, it permanently left an impression in my ears with the key of G minor. Any time I hear a G minor chord, without even thinking about it I can hear "of that's Crazy Diamond chord."

The alternate version of Have a Cigar is better than I expected. It sounds like Roger Waters maybe sang on it instead of the guest on the original version. I never understood why they had Roy Harper sing that song.

From what I've read they just weren't happy with the vocals from anyone so they had Roy do it.

Yep, both Roger and Dave weren’t happy with how they were pulling it off due to being a bit higher in pitch, Roy was hanging around the studio and apparently bugging them about being on a Floyd album so they tossed it to him.

Wow, just listened to Welcome to the Machine on good headphones, and they really a ton of effort into all the machine tones and harmonies. I never appreciated this song when I was younger because I mainly heard the guitars and vocals. Used to think the lyrics were so depressing, but these days, working on machines doesn't seem so bad.

Also, how sad is it that a 50 year old album is more popular than the new music of today?
