FARGO — Former Van Halen bandmates singer David Lee Roth and drummer Alex Van Halen will join artist Robert Vargas for a virtual discussion Thursday, July 30, on the arts at TEDxFargo.
Vargas broke the news on social media Monday night, posting, “Three icons. One stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss.”
When asked if all three artists would be in Fargo or virtual, an administrator with the TEDxFargo Facebook page confirmed the talk would be completely virtual.
TEDxFargo will be hosted at Brewhalla on Thursday, featuring a number of speakers throughout the day.
Roth was Van Halen’s frontman from the band’s formation in 1974 until he left in 1985. The band released six influential albums and hits like “Jump,” “Panama,” “Hot for Teacher,” “Runnin’ with the Devil,” “Jamie’s Cryin’” and “Unchained.” The group carried on with Sammy Hagar, though Roth returned for a few reunion appearances.
Roth and Alex and Eddie Van Halen didn’t always get along, though Alex recently praised the singer as a performer.
Roth was supposed to play a solo show at Bluestem Amphitheater in Moorhead in June, but that show went away after the promoter, Jade Presents, declared bankruptcy.
Roth recently canceled a string of shows on the tour.
