Well, I’ll just say, my favorite Marshall is rarely an actual Marshall and this is no exception! Lol.

Mark killed it here on the blacked out MGL100. He sent me a 50 and 100 some months back to check out. I LOVED the 50 as it had the dual Gain channels but liked the punch of the 100. So we did a combo of both. 100 watt, dual Gain channels and the Siemens power tubes.

So, it's a two channel switcher with separate gain controls? I've seen a bunch of MGL videos but I can't differentiate between the models. That signature model that they did sounded killer.

Yeah pretty sure mine and Jimmy’s amps are the same.

There’s a Vintage again and Modern again channel. So think pushed Plexi I guess then rock AF 800

Very cool Jeremy!! Just to clear up any confusion, this is a Jimmy Burkard MGL100 head. Because we build to order, customers can chose the channel voicings. So on this amp, channel 1 has a switch between the Gain controls, when the switch is down it's the "Vintage Dirty" voicing, and when the switch is up, it's the "Hi-Gain" voicing. And then channel 2 is "Hi-Gain" only. If a customer wants "Vintage Dirty" available on both channels, we can do channel 1 "Vintage Dirty" only and then channel 2 can switch between "Vintage Dirty" & "Hi-Gain". Lastly, we can also make channel 1 a clean channel. But that's not much fun on this forum.

Sure, come on up and hang for a day! We always have a 50w & 100w around in the shop. And sometimes more depending on what builds are going on. We're starting 8 new builds next week and 3 of them are going to The Netherlands! We built a new 2-channel 50w for a customer there and his friends have all stopped by to check it out. So now 2 of them have ordered 50w amps and another guy ordered a 100w.

Wow talk about full-circle! I picked up a used Lead 50 head years ago when I worked at Daddy's Junky Music and it was so good on the cheap. I wasn't around for their heyday but my ex gf's father raved about them and I figured, 'why not'?

Is the vintage dirty still pretty gainy and tight? And is the hi gain still "vintage Marshall" at heart? I've heard and watched many videos and the models are confusing to me as well. But, they all sound damn good. I've always wanted something with a true Plexi tone, but modern, higher gain that is tight, and an FX loop. I know the true Plexi circuits don't do well with FX loops, or I'd look at a Bray. I like the brown sound like most, but I like tight and aggressive too. Basically a metal-approved Plexi.

Yes, Vintage Dirty is voiced like non-master late Plexi - early metal panel amps. Gain set to around 3 is in the AC/DC rhythm range and by the time you get 7-7 1/2 on the Gain, it's like a vintage Marshall decked. So, tones from the late '60's up thru the late '70's - early '80's from Vintage Dirty. Then the Hi-Gain voicing takes over from there and is more aggressive and even tighter. All tones from both voicings are 100% Marshall.
