I don't know about the mode, The amp is a keeper the cleans are sweet and there is alot more gain on tap. I would say it covers 80's metal with no problem and It does jump on over to the "edge" of madness ( key word Edge )it also is tighter than the older ones the kt88's really make this sing more headroom. The amp covers alot of ground it is 2 channels but with the boost funtion it like haveing 4 channels the reverb is one of the best I have heard and you can have it on both channels or just one, there are 2 reverb knobs one for each channel when it is off it is completely out of the signal path...I love this amp like I said before it is a keeper.

Mine is coming on Tuesday, no reverb though. I'll try to post a decent clip of the rhythm and lead tone.
