I found this flyer searching Google of a show we played in Buena Park called "The Woodstock."Its a little hard to read but our band INVADERS went on at 8pm. You can see Slayer , Silent Rage and Dark Angel played that day too. Good times!!

Invaders with Mike Shannon? If yes, do We know each other?
Edit: definitely looks like Mike in that picture. If you’re not Rob, I probably replaced you... forget what year and I only stuck around for a few shows.

Yep, small world!
How’s Rob? I’ve wondered about him, Mike and Dave over the years.
That flyer is horrific... nothing against the guys of course but those costumes were what told me the LA scene was turning into something I didn’t want to be part of.

I remember Sound Barrier, they actually opened for Y&T at the Roxy in Hollywood, the guitar player had the first Jackson guitar I ever seen in person, red with non locking trem if I remember rightMarkedman":uwi1lz93 said:How about "Sound Barrier"? Yngwie was very big. Motley Crue was something that sort of stuck around although I though they'd be flash in the pan, more people liked them than didn't. Dokken, Y&T, Poison, Great White style crapola was really really big at the time but pure crapola. Ozzy had a billboard on Sunset Boulevard that was like 50 feet high for shot in the dark, it was some smoking hot woman with red lights for eyes! Good times for sure.

In my high school, we had a fair amount of metal heads in our big school and if you didn't know someone but they were decked out, you would give them a nod in the hallway like "dude, I know you listen to good shit like me".
Metal music is universal man. Me and my friends were out drinking in Germany as teenagers and we came across these German guys about our age in this parking lot. There is one car there, and they are around it with this boombox cranking Accept's "Balls to the Wall" and they are headbanging. We walked over to them, nobody said a word, and we started headbanging and doing air guitar thru the whole song. Nobody said a word to each other. Then we high fived them and left. That is how metal fans are.
CD’s? I’ve got that on vinylMetalhasrisen":aoimyhv6 said:I love all that shit.... I saw someone mention icon and I could not agree more. Very underrated and the cds are even hard to find but I still listen to them!!

I remember two shows in particular we did... one night with SLAYER and another night with Lizzy Borden. For a short time Gene Allen from Lizzy Borden was a roommate of mine in a small apartment in the San Fernando Valley. In the city of Reseda to be exact which was right down the street from The Country Club where I saw Queensryche , STEELER with Yngwie Malmsteen and many other great bands from that time. As for bands we would see regularly on the strip at that time that come to mind were WASP , ARMORED SAINT , Black and Blue , Joshua , BITCH , ODIN , Warrior , Witch , The Brooklyn Brats , HELLION were all playing the Troubadour and the Whisky on any given night back then. You never would know who might just show up. One night David Lee Roth randomly showed up to hang out at the Troubadours bar and get plastered. LOL... Below are a couple of pics of me at the tender age of 17... one out front of the Troubadour before a show and couple on stage. Im the one with the Black and White striped flying V. I can honestly say that those were some of the BEST times of my life. And without a doubt the most sexy , beautiful women ever were 80s babes!!! I even met my wife at the Troubadour in 1984 and we are still together today. Cheers guys.

Agreed, great stuff Fret-Shredder. Thanks for sharing! I probably spent hundreds of hours in the early to mid 80s reading Circus, Hit Parader, Creem, and the guitar mags trying to imagine what it was like to live that life. At least my romanticized version of it anyway.
I think Saliva fits that bill as well.shredhead7":114andvm said:If the OP likes Saigon Kick, check out Galactic Cowboys. They are the same era, early 90's, but fused hair, thrash, and lots of vocal harmonies.
