So I've been asked to audition for this band who is opening for Kix, Slaughter and Vince Neil when they roll through Utah this summer and while on their SoundCloud trying to get a few of their songs down for the audition (They're called Perfect Disorder form Utah, check em out, in my not biased opinion since I don't technically have the job yet they are pretty damn good for a local band) and I realized I was logged into my account from about 2 years ago and I had some recordings of myself from the time period...

And oh my God. How the hell did I ever show my face at auditions?? My timing was rubbish, my tone was terrible and the recordings were so flub filled I could have sworn it was a mid 90's Robin Williams Disney movie (Let's see who gets that reference from my childhood...)

Does anyone find old recordings of themselves and just cringe? Since I'm still young, a few years apparently makes a big difference... I'm interested in hearing if you guys who've been playing a lot longer cringe at themselves for something as recent as about 2 years ago or if you just sorta plateau'd

Yep....
All I can hear when I listen to old recordings are my limitations and every influence I ever had

I'm older and for me it's the opposite. How the he'll did I play that?! Or, how do I get that tone again? Always forgetting what amp or guitar it was :-)

Same here, I've done things on the guitar that neither mind nor body can manage now :D

this .... although not so much a technical thing more a song writing thing. I have old songs that have parts in them that I just can't figure out what I was playing. I also go back and forth with them, so one day i'll listen and think man they kinda suck but then I will listen again a couple of days later and think man those are song cool songs.

My soloing has always been kinda random so not much has changed there

I think everyone has these little hidden jems somewhere!

Always fun to listen to!
