Been looking into the FM3 for the working cover band I’ve got now, but I can’t justify spending that much rn. notice some of the older floor models like the FX8 go for about half the price in some cases. How do these old ones stack up to the newer ones like the FM3? Do they sound as good? Can you also use the fractal expression pedal with them?

FX8 is just a multi fx no amp modelling
The AX8 is previous gen equivalent to the Fractal AX2 , it’s good but IMO I much prefer what they are doing now

If you want to save a few bucks, it’s not a bad idea to sign up to the FAS forum and keep on an eye on the Classified section, a lot of users there who are upgrading will let one go for as low as $800, opposed to Reverb where you rarely see them for under a grand.
