..the low end is tight and chuggy going through the QR..

the spongiest, loosest pickup in the world would be tight and chuggy through a QR

since you can't actually see it, let me inform you that I'm flipping you the bird as we speak ;)

^^^^^^^ :D

Curt, I think a JB is worth a try and with a 250K vol pot to boot! My #1 guitar is setup this way and man was I blown away with it when I had it done a year ago and I still am  Just the right amount of clarity, growl, punch and attack.

I'd like to hear what you think about that combo with the QR. Actually, don't the new Charvel's without the pickguard come like that?

Oh yeah...I haven't tried a Distortion yet either

when we hung out after the Milwaukee show,in 2005,he was just getting his new, signature Super V pickup finished with Seymour Duncan and he had a proto-type unit in his famous "Skull n Bones" guitar

I was at that show as well. What a dump that place was! (http://www.vnuks.com) Please don't tell me you paid the $50.00 to hang out with him after

no,actually i got to see the show for free and meet him afterwards because i caught them play the chicago show, the nite before, which was a friggin nightmare since a snow blizzard hit all day long.the snow was so bad that even a jumbo jet skidded off the runway at Midway airport, which is located on the southside of chicago(and where the nite club that Lynch was playing at that nite).the plane went off the airport grounds, busted through a huge fence and as it crossed into a major surface street,it crushed a car load of people.in the mean time,i'm driving thru the snowstorm, down the highway at like no more than 20mph,and i gotta go like 50 miles from the northburbs of chicago to the southburbs and thru an intersecting highway that's backed up even worse because the airplane that crashed is in that nearby vicinity.so what should have been a 45 min drive took 2 1/2 hours between the airplane incident & the snowstorm.what a mess! anyways, that nite at the Lynch show,i got to talkin with the guy that was running the t-shirt booth for Lynch, and he mentioned to me that if i was interested in catching the band play up in the Milwaukee area, the very next nite,he'd put me on the guest list.i agreed! so,not only did i get to go to that show( and yes, barzini,it was Vnuk's niteclub...and it was like -17 degrees that nite),but also seeing that i talked to the same t-shirt booth guy at this show as well(along with thanking him by buying two rounds of beers for the both of us),he got me in to see Lynch about an hour after the show had already ended...whew,what a late nite that was! hey,it was all worth it though ;) .....................(sorry,chubster...no camaro's or axe-wielding/acid tripping maniacs THIS nite   )

yeah, and tell 'em the "Desert Rider" says hello(that's me :D ).......he'll remember our lengthy "AZ motorcycle riding stories" conversation that we had.

so I played three of my main axes today..two of which have DDs in them..the haji has a JB...after playing the franken strat and the LP with the DD in it, I've decided I'm going to finally swap out the JB in the haji for a DD...I just love the poo outta that pickup!

whether this helps or not, Curt, I can't tell you...but I felt like typing...so there it is =)

killer pics Ned

The distortion is a cool pickup if you like high powered pickups (I'm not a fan), but I've had mixed results with the JB. I've had it in a few mahogany bodied guitars and I've never been very happy with it. It has a weird almost shrill sound to the high end (it' does seem very bassy though). I'm a big fan of the custom and custom custom. In a solid maple body I had good luck with a full shred even though it was very hot for my usual tastes.

Can't see the pix at work, but that would likely be Raethovan - Ray Freeman Jr...
He did alot of work with Lynch, Kings, X, and Chris Caffery - ranging from merch guy, to tour manager..

His bro, Andruw (I think that is how he spelled it) was singing lead for Lynch on a few tours...
