Well, what was your favorite Peavey memory? That's it for them. Damn.

Probably Misha pretending the invective mini sounded good at namm :D

JK....My first tube amp was a 6505+ and also some of those bandit combos sound really freaking good.

I think people are reading too much into this. They arent really building anything over here so its probably just junk they dont have any use for.

Some builders might have a chance to get some good deal on wood...and maybe pick up a few power amps on the cheap.

My favorite memory of a Peavey is when I dumped my dark, lifeless Classic 50 and upgraded to an H&K Triamp Mk I for gigging. It was literally a night and day difference.

I'm being smarmy I guess. I did have a sweet HP guitar that had a stunning top and played like butter. If I could stand to play with a Floyd Rose any more, I might still have that one.

Back in the day, the USA Wolfgang were nice. I still enjoy my JSX. I had a block letter 5150 and it was sweet. I don't trust anything they make now tbh. Everything is an import. USA Peavey hell yeah. Third world countries... PASS.

I remember going in to the local shop and lusting after those Peavey combos...when I was 14 lol..we didn't have any Marshall dealers where I lived. No Mesa, nothing worth a damn. I think the Renown was the combo all the decent players plugged into and wanked away on. Eventually I made it up to the twin cities, and wandered in to a Knut Koupe...THAT'S where the Marshalls were hiding!
I do agree the USA Peavey Wolfgangs are very nice, and the best of the 3 versions. YMMV.

They had a big sell off of the old Wolfgang bodies and necks, also HP2 stuff as well. I bought a couple of the Birdseye Wolfgang necks for some projects. One was an all Birdseye neck and the other a rosewood boarded Birdseye maple neck ...

It's sad what Peavey has become. They were a great company.

As a kid in the early 80's, I use to go to a store in the Chicago suburbs named Roselle Music. They had Peavey, Hamer, BC Rich, Charvel, Marshall, Randall, .....the cool stuff. This was before the days of Guitar Centers everywhere! In the early 90's I bought a Peavey Rockmaster preamp and a Classic 60/60 power amp. It was a cool rig until I got Mesa stuff.

Crazy. And sad. I still have my Vypyr Tube 60. Pretty bad ass amp actually. I removed the 'fangs' :D

If you go to the Pre Bid Catalog they have 3-6505s in Lot 1? Customer Returns? Just seems so .....fucked up?

I’d think that the company can still survive. Budda could be sold off. Someone wants it, right? Same for trace elliot. And theres the amp line.

Where can I pick up a cheap hp2?

The curious case of Peavey products.

Great, reliable products made in the USA for cheaper than competitors were running imported goods for. Get dumped on for being basically "too common"

This is happening to the whole industry. Everything is being done in the box and the people that used to buy amps no longer play out. Maybe there is a ground swell of a new generation, but I don't see it. Personally, I love my amps, but most are collecting dust and I have a whole storage space filled with my old pa stuff that I need to sell off, but I can't give it away.

Oh shit Peavy R.I.P !??

My first amp was a crappy Peavy, I also had a 6505+ in the past. I really enjoyed the latter!

Do you happen to know the difference between the Music Man, Peavy and now EVH Wolfgangs?

I'm having G.A.S for a Wolfgang, just not sure for which one to look for!

I predicted awhile ago that tube amps will be look at as dinosaur tools soon. There will be some of us that continue using them (myself included) but in the long run, it will be a fraction of the amount of people that use them even now. Looking at backlines of touring bands, I would say more than 40-50% have went completely digital.

I have not spent any time on on an EBMM EVH. but I have played a lot of axis models. The Peavey stuff smokes the Fender EVH. No contest. I have had two USA Peavey Wolfgangs, and loved them. I have played quite a few of the Fenders and never have been impressed.

My main comment though on the Peavey models, get a USA. I went to buy an import one local. Junk. I passed on the deal. No comparison.
