This thread makes me want that fender metalhead a guy is selling locally.

That amp is cool, I used it in the last project I was in, it’s like a SS triple recto. This thing is a little more old school

I feel the same. Back in junior high, had a cs800 mixer with some big peavey cabinets. Never used them, but my dad felt like i needed them
We used a set of cabs loaded with 15" black widows and the horn above it in the late 90's when dudes started ditching them, lol. There has never been a more stout p.a cabinet ever made that I have seen save for maybe some of the old school festival level JBL gear. Peavey tried to make basic facsimiles of their speakers in that late 70's early 80's era. The gear is def decent quality overall. If I had a fixed rehearsal space, those ol' 15"/horns would be a great choice.

I had a Supreme 160 back in the day. Hell, at the time it was my only amp and I enjoyed it, but got bored with it. I found it fatiguing to the ears after a while. Now of course, many, many amps later, I'd like to pick one up, or some other SS head just to mess around with. I've been looking for a while now, but nothing has popped up for cheap enough. I'll keep looking.

Hell ya. Glad things are going well for you.

There's a bunch of amps like that for me too. Now that I know what I'm doing a little bit better, I feel like they're probably a lot cooler than I gave them credit for.

A bunch of randall solid states, blue voodoos, stuff like that.

The older I get, the more I realize you can get a cool tone out of just about anything.

Yeah same here. I wish I could get back a bunch of amps that I sold, just to see what I could do with them now that I have a bit better of an idea what the fuck I'm doing. I also can't get out of my head some of the amps that I saw selling for super cheap at the time, but I turned my nose up at them because they weren't considered good by the average Harmony Central member. I had a Marshall JCM900 4500 for a while, and that was probably the first amp that I actually made a decent effort at dialing in and figuring out how to get it to sound how I wanted it to sound. It was the first amp I had that I wasn't constantly fighting with to be heard in the mix. I couldn't figure out why literally everyone on the forums was saying "JCM900s are the worst amps ever!". Of course they're not. The people saying that were just a bunch of guys who had no idea what they were doing, just like me. When you try to get a 100 watt tube amp to sound good in your bedroom at the absolute lowest volume level possible, yeah, it's probably going to sound like shit.

By the way, anyone ever played a Crate GT120? H&K Vortex?

I used to own a teal stripe bandit the early 90s. I just happened to find another one in a local store i just discovered a few months ago. I gave it a good cleaning. Then found out the speaker had a nasty tear in it from edge to cone. Wood glue and paper towel trick worked good.

For some weird reason the reverb doesn't work right. The tank checked out ok. Might be an op amp
