Opinions on Arcane pickups

Unless I'm missing something here, looks like Arcane guy should be calling Curt to ask for his business. Not the other way around. Just sayin.

I have tried a variety of different pickups from Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, Suhr, Seymour Duncan custom shop, EMG and this Arcane George Lynch pickup is different from all of them. It's hard to describe but I can hear the clarity, tightness, and the notes being more snappier. I'm using a big ass tungsten block for my Floyd Rose and 10 gauge strings on this guitar. I'm pretty sure all of this contributed to the overall tone so take it for what it's worth. You can still get the George LYnch pickup pretty easily through Mr. Scary Guitars and the last time I check the www.bassexchange.com had one of the black Brownbucker in stock. I was looking for a different color so I didn't buy it but they did mentioned that they can order it in a different color.

I think Chub had a bad experience when the builder was going thru some major life changes. He should reach out and see how things have settled. I don't begrudge him getting on a board and trashing the guy, but people go thru stuff. When you are a one man shop doing everything yourself, I wouldn't expect its easy when life is throwing you curveballs. I would start by giving him a call and repairing that relationship, and getting some awesome pickups out of it.

Reza,
Do you know I was the very first dealer in the United States to take on Arcane pickups?

When I last spoke to Rob he made it sound like he just wasn't going to have time for the dealers and the retail customers anymore because he had so much oem work. He told me to send in the order and he would see what he could do. I'm bummed, but I accepted that Arcane had evolved into solely an oem pickup supplier. But, this thread is about regular customers and their opinion of Arcane pickups. My response is if he doesn't have time to build me 24 pickups, should a guy who only wants 1 or 2 pickups really wait by their phone for a call back? And others have chimed in that their inquiries were ignored. I have fielded lots of calls in the last couple of years from people who tried contacting Arcane and received zero response.

His going all oem was TOTALLY accepted by me as him doing what was best for his company. Except it's a real kick in the nuts when I read that you are able to get pickups from him and in your experience it is as easy as just calling him up. And then seeing that The Bass Exchange has some too. Nice.

Looks like you have to be Hollywood to get a piece of the Arcane :aww:

I've talked to Rob about it and he is definitely interested in taking care of Chubtone, but he is also very in demand.

I know he is very in demand and yet... read above.

Yea,
I wasn't saying to ask for business , but to check in and see if things have smoothed out.
I'm giving him an inside reason why his order may have been never been fulfilled. So he is not wondering why, or just going off on the guy without a clearer picture.
I've talked to Rob about it and he is definitely interested in taking care of Chubtone, but he is also very in demand. He is making all the trussart, echopark, Luxxtone, Bogner pickups.
The guy's business is highly concentrated around OEM building. But that being said, things have improved drastically and it would be worthwhile to carry his pickups. They have legendary tones in them, and that's not an exaggeration.

So Chub was the first Arcane dealer and Rob is "interested"......

I like the Duncan '59/Custom Hybrid pickup for that sound even more.
I will have to re-visit that one! I built one way back before they were in production
and it was really VH sounding. like the A5 in mine for its percussive attsack and clarity but most go A2.
I've yet to try the Custom hybrid, but the Arcane Brownbucker A2 is VHII and Fair Warning in spades; totally recommend it if that's what you're after.
I thought the BB was A5?

Hope everything work out with Chubtone. We need more dealers for these pickups. Arcane recently build 75 set of pickups to celebrate Wayne Charvel 75th birthday. Check out the video below. It's a pickup with an A2 magnet with a DCR of ~9k. What do you guys think of the sound? I can hear the pickup clarity from the video. I think this is one of signature attribute of the Arcane pickup.

That is actually the same shop as The Bass Exchange so it isn't as bad as it looks but they are still a dealer that somehow gets product.

My Arcane BB is A5 not A2???

The Brownbucker standard spec is A5 and that is why I like the BB better than the Duncan '78 that is very similar spec wise but has an A2.

I'm just going to let this all go.

Rob has to do what's best for his business and that is obviously what he is trying to do. I wish him the best. His stuff is great and quite difficult to get and we have all seen that normally throws everyone into a tizzy. I mean, he was mentored by Tom Holmes right? I remember when people were paying $400 for a Tom Holmes humbucker.

I am glad to have played the role of villain in this. "You'll NEVER get an Arcane pickup" said the former dealer on the Rig Talk forum and everyone who reads it immediately wants an Arcane pickup even more. You're welcome. :)

Wow...always thought it was an A2, huh! I guess it really doesn't matter; sounds fantastic regardless.

while on the subject of Arcane pickups....anybody know what the specs are for the Luxxbucker pickup found in Luxxtone builds.

Have one, but not a clue what it is, but sounds great..

Just the best, open and articulate pickups I have ever used!

http://www.wayneguitars.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html I believe this pickup spacing is for a Floyd Rose. Call and ask them if this pickup spacing is good for your Les Paul. I feel like I should get paid for pimping their product. :D

Last night I switch out my Charvel guitar that has the Arcane George Lynch pickup with another Charvel with an EVH Frankenstein pickup and the tone was completely different. My Charvel with the Arcane pickup just sounded way better. I will definitely buy a Brownbucker soon and put it in one of my other Charvel guitar for sure.
