sdhupelia, you made a mistake. You know what you should do, you don't need us to tell you.
Go down to that UPS store and demand the transaction be fixed.
In the meantime, get out the Visa card and fix Brad's out of pocket.

Do you not watch Judge Judy????? She and Bird would string you up :)

Some dude does something wrong (even if it wasn't on purpose) and someone else gets stuck with the bill. It's not fair.
It's not fair to you that the UPS store totally screwed you around, either.
But lets be clear, they fucked YOU around NOT Brad....Brad should not have to pay for the mishap.
Morally you need to make good, while you are trying to get reimbursed by the UPS store.

Why should this come out of Brad's pocket? It shouldn't.

Brad is very good friend of mine and I know how fair he is.
Do the right thing, you might be out of pocket but you'll feel better.

I have relented and offered Brad the amp for $850 ppgift, but asked him to pickup the actual shipping costs. I will be happy to cover the shipping upfront and then send him a scan/pic of the receipt so he can reimburse me for the shipping costs later. I think that's more than fair, to make things right here, and I'm waiting for his response.

Your classified ad lists your amp at $1250 shipped. I don't even want it but will take it for $850 shipped. Exactly $400 less. This is a principle thing with me at this point.

As just PM'd:

I tried speaking with UPS at length today, and got nowhere, just as you didn't either. I explained to them the whole thing, I basically read them my whole diatribe from the forum thread to keep my facts in order, and she blew me off. She's the store manager, I don't have anywhere to escalate to beyond there. If there's someone you can yell at in UPS HQ, since you're an account holder, we should do that next.

I did explain to her that I'm trying to work out a deal to sell you an additional item, and have other items in the future I will need to ship, and that I won't be using their store if they can't help make this right, and they were unsurprisingly unresponsive.

I can't do $850 shipped - I'm saying let's assume the shipping ends up $50-75 based on the weight, how about we settle at $850 ppgift + shipping, I think that's very equitable for both of us. If you flip the amp, you'll easily recoup the difference we're fighting over now, and if you sell the Bogner Shiva + the cab you bought from me at the price you have it listed, you'll recoup much of your costs on that end as well.

Just as a side note, take your future packages to a UPS hub to ship out, that is the cheapest. Second cheapest is to have the driver come to you and pick it up, there is likely a small charge for this option. The UPS Store tacks on quite a bit, you'd be suprised that it's fairly cheaper NOT using the franchise store.

The electra Dyne he's selling is a suprisingly good amp, with a boost pedal i actually liked it better than a Bogner XTC 101b. But it weighs a ton like every other Boogie so i doubt he would take you up on that offer since shipping it wouldn't be cheap. He should have jumped at you're $200 offer.

Then phone corporate and tell them the verbal quote given from this lady manager was $40 but in the end, the pricetag was $400. An accurate quote needs to be given in any situation and in this case, she screwed up. Quit mincing about who did what and what the amp should be if its $850 - escalate this error to corporate, tell them that the quote was received verbally. The actual cost was 10x the amount. Error on the part of UPS. Not Brad, not the receiver or the shipper. UPS. Once again, if there is any way to prove that the onus did NOT fall on the shipper, then by default the onus rests upon the outlet and the manager's quote given.

sounds good ...

hope everything goes well ....

I'm glad to see that you guys could come to an understanding and work things out
it is a tough situation.

Glad to hear it is resolved. It was a bad deal for both.

Moral of the story here: Don't use UPS. They've tried to screw me for thousands of dollars, and have screwed the people who sent me packages for at least $3-4000 that I can track over the last six years.

Like I stated before, my tally is 15 damaged shipments out of 19 in that time.

SDhupelia, So far Brad has just given out money. He paid for the cab and the shipping error, now he's buying the head, you shouldnt quibble over the shipping of the head. What if it doesnt sell for that price and he has to lower it to sell it? You should just eat the shipping at this point. Also, whatever profit he "might" make off of the Shiva which has nothing to do with this and the Cab he bought off you " which is his to make a profit on if he does", that's got nothing to do with the 400$ shipping error. The stack he's selling now with the cab you used to own but don't anymore has nothing to do with you. That sucks this happened but you need to completely own your side of it and the inconvenience it caused the buyer. As far as this UPS store lady, I'd seriously be giving her a banana in the tailpipe, she sounds like a real piece of work.

I really really don't understand how you could get nowhere with UPS on this. Her quoted price was wrong, so unless the $40 extra quote was a lie then she should be liable.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but it is really hit and miss with any of the shipping companies. I have been shipping gear for well over 10 years and have never had a problem with UPS. The same can't be said for Fed Ex.

Guys it's done. I tried ups and got nowhere. Brad told me tonight he will take legal action against me over this if I don't take his offer, based on principle. I have no satisfactory outcome here, so I have to protect my family and get out of this situation as fast as possible. Everyone can think what they want, and I appreciate that one member has already had his account deleted for sticking up for my story, but it doesn't matter anymore. Brad's offer is better than my being out the cash, and he's going to sue me otherwise, so it's done.

This is fuckin bullshit. Bottom line. WE live in AMERICA. Customer SERVICE is a fuckin religion here. I may have the gift of gab, or I may understand how to get what I want in situations like this and that what may be the most frustrating thing involved. GO TO UPS> RAISE HELL> GET RESULTS..and dont leave until you do. Its not that fuckin hard. I GUARANTEE YOU. If I was in this situation I would have had it worked out before it hit the forum. You sir are a perfect example of a limp wristed passive loser. GO TO UPS, tell them THEY fucked up. AND that they are causing you financial harm, that you were misled, lied to , misdirected, NAME YOUR POISON. they did it. WHY ARE YOU SO SLOW?!!?!? i cant deal with people like this guy.

I have to agree with this. I would NOT just take a $400 loss on your amp and say oh well lesson learned. If what you say is really what happened then UPS owes you $400. Don't stop fighting it until you get your money. That kind of passive attitude hurts all consumers and allows companies to continue their shit customer service and shady business practices. DEMAND YOUR MONEY!!!!

The one guy that "stuck up for you" was accusing Brad of trying to rip YOU off. I would hardly consider that to be someone worthy of thanks.
