Orange otr120 reissue

New to the forum hello. I have a reissue orangr otr120 master volume. Seems like the level of gain is similar or even less than a single channel jcm 800 and the volume....well i have to have the volume at 6/10 to be as loud as my jcm 800 at 2/10...is this normal? With all other amps iv had the volume comes on pretty quickly....just concerned there is a fault. Someone on anothet forum told me these amps are designed like this....can someone confirm this?

I don’t know about the reissues but I found every 70’s orange I played to be very underpowered compared to it’s stated output. Marshall 50’s would tear an OR80 a new one on volume and same for 1959’s vs an OR120.

That amp should be ripping your head off loud. It will have a little less gain than a 2203/2204 but not that much. How old are the tubes? I would try switching out the 12ax7 in V1 to start.
