orange thunderverb 200

absolute monster of an amp.
not terribly swift attack... but - once it hits it is a wall of bricks.
mine has kt88's and im running it through an orange hp8 4x12 with HEMPOPOTAMUS LOUDspeakers
they are still breaking in i think. but it sounds very promising at this stage.

i understand channel a and b are the same. a simply has eq and b has shape.
contrary to popular opinion i prefer the channel a

using an 8 string downtuned the clarity of 40-60hz is excellent.
too much gain muddies it all up and it starts honking.

excited to hear after more hours of break in on the speakers
the tubes were reportedly replaced. boy they take a while to warm up. she gets real hot under normal use. keep a cup of tea over the grate and itll stay warm.

just wanted to express my sentiment about the amp.

i removed the orange tolex and bought white tolex on ebay from the electric amp guy who seems a bit manic haha...

now it matches my limited 2009 white rockerverb 50 combo mki

How does it compare to the RV?

I'm thinking about keeping an eye out for a TV, but they're much harder to come by since they're not in production anymore.

it handles the low far better on an 8 string.
honestly the gain is somewhat similar but they are going through different speakers and the rv50 is open back.
if i didnt play 8 string id have likely went a different route than the tv200
the reverb on the tv200 is not as intense as rv50
the attenuator on the tv200 is fun...even at 50 watts the rv is LOUD
i would suggest the tv200 is more versatile but im probably biased.
keep an eye out on facebook marketplace and guitar center used.
yes they were low in production but seem to be under the radar for most and so deals are out there!

i have like emg's more through tv than through rv and i cant figure out what makes a difference there.
no preference on passives or other actives. idk at all.

I have a RV with four KT88 and OR50 with EL34. I tend to prefer the girth of the KT88.

Nice review. I don't have much experience with that amp.

We were just talking about these in a thread about C.O.C. Pepper uses these in his rig and hits them with a boost of some sort. It sounded wicked on their last tour a few months ago.

i certainly now feel similarly, the kt88 really complements extended range guitars.

one thing i know for certain is that the emg 81/85 57/60 sounds spectacular. i suspect its the built in preamp. so clear and brutal.

my passive guitars take a lot more tweaking to get to sound close to as good as the emg's

this includes:
bare knuckle juggarnauts
bare knuckle polymath
seymour duncan pegasus sentient
seymour duncan alpha omega
kiesel lithiums


that has been the biggest surprise to me thus far.
