How did they get the pin # ?
Most debit cards these days are check-cards, or secured-credit cards.
Mine are, and mine got nailed with an AOL bill a few years back. That was laughable, and I immediately shut down the card, and moved shit out of that bank account into a new one.
Recently, just a week ago, same thing - ebay notified me that my ebay account had been cracked and assured me the card is safe, etc. (it wasn't a scam email, I had to re-reset my password and everything) - anyhow, I've gone through the process of flipping all my accounts over again...
This time, I'm doing it a bit "better"
1 account for deposits and electronic auto-debits, checks for bills only.
1 account for anything that involves using the check card. Online transactions, groceries, gas, eating out, etc.
1 account for "fun money" and savings. This is used as my "don't use credit cards for toys" account.
When I start selling stuff on ebay again, I'll create a 4th account to associate with paypal/ebay if I go that route.
Ideally, I was going to have one account solely for income, and another for electronic bills, and another for check-card use, and the last for fun...but since I don't directly pay the bills, I got a few glares from the lady of the house that does. Once we get used to this, I'll probably do that anyway...
The other thing I'm thinking is changing all the bills to withdraw on the same day, then schedule a transfer to cover the amount plus say 5% to the account they'd be withdrawn from....
Anyhow, it's all about protecting the "gold"...
