the 80's was cheesy pop metal. i love it...but it was pop. we shouldn't have the discussion about who could outplay who but i'd like to see c.c. deville or warren dimartini play a full set of some necrophagist or cephalic carnage...just once.

on a side note...i'm pretty sure george lynch, steve vai or paul gilbert could prolly do it.

Small minded people kill me. I am 39yrs old and can play for hours on the flat top (neil young,allmand bros. warren haynes, pink floyd, etc)and sing with it. How come guys who dont like death metal have to be all grouchy bout it.
I feel very fortunate to be able to enjoy all types of music. The only thing is I love music that requires talent to play. My last band, I played guitar and did lead vocals. We covered Cannibal Corpse, old Metallica, Slayer, etc. and not easy shit either.
Why is it I can love this stuff yet still love Perfect Circle, Rush, Yes, Prince, and a ton of others that aren't metal. ? Lucky me

i know what you mean dude. i'm a big rap fan of all things. i make rap beats on a keyboard/cpu setup for people all over the area. i also listen to lots of r&b, especially old shit like marvin gaye and the isley brothers. soooo good. these guys start threads all the time talkin bout how horrible death metal is and then act like they never said it when someone calls 'em out.
i listen to alot of stuff that isn't hard to play or around here it's called "talentless"...it's pretty sad really. i think that if i got to the point where i could play so good that nothing, except virtuoso bullshit, impressed me...i'd rather suck at guitar. i'm a music fan first, musician second. i really don't give a fuck who can outplay, or who has talent...i either like it or i don't.
i understand people don't like death metal. i think it would be weird if death metal was the mainstream music. but to sit there and say that it's horrible and they're talentless is jus stupidity.
