I like Metal... Just not that "Cookie Monster" growly GAY crap!
Iced Earth, Pantera... Lotsa good stuff out there!

Didn't see the video, so no opinion on OP. All I know is that Pantera kicks major ass and always will - no matter what all those greasy poser kids say nowadays!!
 
That cookie monster stuff was cool once upon a time... Now, it's just played, over played and played out. At one time you had to put up with the cookie monster to get that kind of sound out of the music.

Think of it, a band that sounds like say Bullet for My Valentine would have never had "sing-song" vocals 15 years ago. The riff would be the same, but the vox would be very "C-is for cookie". That used to be the joke... "Tune to C and sing like a muppet and you too can tour with Death and Cannibal Corpse..."

Meh, different strokes. In the early 90's when that stuff first came out, there really weren't that kind of guitar riffs anywhere else. I do agree it requires little vocal talent. But one does need a certain technique to do that successfully for an entire set, let alone tour with consistancy.

I was going to start a mock-Deth metal group and call it: Sunshines, Rainbows, and Puppy Dog Kisses and NOT wear any black at shows. Oddly, no one jumped on that train with me. :confused:

Man, if you were in NorCal, I would be all over that kind of toungue in cheek act. I have actually heard of this kind of thing before. Hard to get traction. One thing the Deth doods don't do is make fun of themselves.

I just don't get how not many people get the inherent comedy value out of heavy metal. From lipstick to cookie monster there is always something to laugh at...

We used to call Led Zep and Black Sabbath metal and I love those bands, but today's metal with it's emphasis on darkness and throbbing scooped mids is just not pleasant to listen to. For me anyway.

The cookie monster stuff is just awful I mean really awful to my ears.

I prefer the most monotonous, repetitive rap in the world to that junk. :doh: :doh:
