Thought I'd bring up a real sport around here and see what all your thoughts were :)

In the first round, there may be some upsets, but I have a hard time picking any of them, so my picks look like this:
Boston (best team in the east all year)
Washington (Ovechkin FTW)
New Jersey (Brodeur > Ward)
Pittsburgh (Malkin + hot streak = W)
San Jose (best team in the west all year)
Detroit (Mason is good, Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are better)
Vancouver (Luongo will steal it, this will be the closest series of the bunch)
Calgary (Chicago has a good chance, but the Flames are vets and know what it takes)

Boston makes it to the final and loses to whoever comes from the west...I'm hesitant to pick SJ because they've choked the last couple of years, but I think they're taking it this year. If Osgood was playing well I'd pick Detroit again, but I think he'll cost them this year.

Put yer money where yer mouth is boys :D

I'm a huge Boston fan so I'm hoping that the Bruins make a good run of it.

As, for you Pens fans...that's going to be a great series. Pens got some great upfront talent (duh!) and those Flyers are 4 lines deep!

Don't let the star power fool you - the Pens have 13 guys with double-digit goals. The Flyers have 7. And 34 goals from their D to the Flyers' 20. In other words, much more scoring depth. The Flyers are backing into the playoffs whereas the Pens, like last year, are peaking at the right time. But the Bruins are the cream of the crop in the East and the team to beat. It seems like on the rare occasion they did lose, they came back to pound their next opponent and score 5 or 6 goals. We'll see how it goes...

Boston over Montreal (Hard to pick against a team that dominated all year, but I think it'll be a close series)
New York over Washington (The Caps are overrated and Jose Theodore is mediocre)
Carolina over New Jersey (Ward is playing WAY better than Broduer)
Pittsburgh over Philadelphia (Marty Biron sucks and the Pens are a whole new team under Bylsma)

Anaheim over San Jose (Upset special)
Detroit (Fags) over Columbus (Would be amazing if Columbus beat them though)
Calgary over Chicago (Kipper > inexperienced young team)
Vancouver over St. Louis (I'd love to see the Blues make a good run, but I dunno, just doesn't seem likely)

Boston isn't even going to make it to the finals. They're also overrated IMO. I want to see Detroit get knocked out so bad. Fucking hate that team. :gethim:

Anything can happen in the playoffs, that is why they play the games :) I don't do predictions but I'm all for an Original 6 final, Detroit vs. Boston with Detroit winning back to back cups since well...the last fukkin time they won back to back cups :) The Wings are not as strong defensively as they were last season but they added Hossa to increase the offense (dude is a helluva 2-way player).

The upsets typically are in the first round between 1-8 and 2-7 seeds.

The second season is a war, will can beat skill and talent. Luck and health and netminders all come into play for a long playoff run.

Second season begins tonight at 7pm EST ;) Cannot wait!!!!!!!

No way man, Boston isn't overratted...I watched them a lot this year because they're in the Northeast division, and they remind me a lot of the Ducks when they beat my Sens a couple of years ago. Big, fast, tough, solid goaltending. I'm partially biased though because I'm bitter and miss my boy Chara

I can see the caps being upset if Theodore doesn't play well, but Ovechkin is a force and unless the defence of NY step it up, he'll walk all over them. I've seen enough Redden in the playoffs to know how he'll play :scared: I figure they'll be out in the second round.

I can also see the SJ series being tough...but I think the Ducks are undisciplined enough that the Sharks' PP will be the difference.

As for NJ, I just couldn't pick against a team with 50+ wins and a Sutter for a coach...it definitely wouldn't surprise me if they were upset though.

Boston didn't play very well down the stretch, and I have no clue why Manny Fernandez was getting so much playing time in the last few weeks. Just makes no sense. The Pens lit them up last time they played, which was pretty recent. I'd have no worries if the Pens had to play them in a series. They don't have any playoff experience for the most part, and they don't look so dominant anymore IMO.

They had a rough spell like any good team but they turned it back around when it mattered. Fernandez played a lot recently to give Thomas some much needed rest for the playoffs. And yes, Pitt lit them up when they were in that dry spell.

I'm not a fan of resting players for the playoffs. Just makes them rusty IMO. We'll see how it works out for them. Has Tim Thomas ever even been in a playoff game before?

Yes, last year. and overseas...not the same thing but the guy has travelled and played all over the world. That's why they play the games right? i'm just happy they finally had a good team.
