I've had my Genz Benz G-flex 212 cab (ported and baffled) for about 10 years. I can use a single 12" at 8 ohms or both (4 ohms or 16 ohms). I can also run my S120 in stereo with two 8 ohm jacks. There is an extension jack but I've never used it.

Plenty of bass and great for hard-rock and metal chugging (palm muting). Sounds pretty big for it's size. Worked well with multiple heads. Speakers are based on V30's according to Jeff Genzler. Recently installed Mesa casters. I like the metal grille and handles.

any other 212 cabs worth noting that you've kept for more than 5 years?

I have a Whitebox 2x12 that I haven't quite had for 5 years yet, but, I don't see myself replacing any time soon.

I've had my gflex for years as well. No other 2x12 cab came close for me so I never bothered switching it up. That said, I use my 4x12 more and only use the 2x12 for smaller gigs.

I've had my ported Hermida 2x12 with Vintage 30's for about 5 years. GREAT cab. Solid, small and light. Sounds great, punchy.

I do like my Mesa Rec 2x12 as well. That thing thumps.

Orange PPC2x12. Thing is a monster for metal and doom.

please cite an example of "doom". sounds intriguing. is that the stoner type metal?

behemoth is kinda scary! lol

I have had my gflex 2x12 (with casters as well) for years now and I love it! I use it with my Budda Superdrive and it kills. I have used it with every amp I have had and never had a bad match. In the last year i also got a Fryette 2x12 I use with my Sig X but it sounds great with the Gflex as well. For bigger shows I can use both but don't need to as it sounds massive.

I've had a few, mostly a Mesa 2x12 Recto cab and a Marshall 1966 (24x24x10, diagonally mounted 2x12). Relative to a 4x12, both have more "clarity" but less "oomph" IMHO. I think a ported 2x12 might be too much bass without enough midrange, but I don't have any experience with them.

i have a half open-back 412 old school 80s/90s mesa cab and the gflex seems to have decent midrange in comparison with a Les Paul. you could always crank the mids and turn down the bass on the EQ as well...

the gflex definitely puts out more defined and authoritative low end than any other cab I've used. it's great for hard rock and metal...

That cab is more like having two 2x12 cabs stacked one on top of the other than a typical 4x12 cab. Try a typical closed-back 4x12. You might hear what I'm talking about.

rivera q212 ported front loaded. love the thing

has a v30 and elite 80 in it. can also run single 8 ohms or both at 16.

I've owned 3, all of which I would have kept indefinitely, had I not had to sell them for various reasons.

Ear Candy Buzzbomb. This thing was awesome. Great sound. Really sounded like a 412, like they claim. Tolex job on the bottom of the cab was not great, and peeled back a tiny bit. Other than that, this was, by far, the absolute best built cab I have ever seen. I think you could throw it off of a 3 story building and it would be fine. Pretty picky about speakers. Tended to make typically non-fizzy speakers sound fizzy. Basically, you gotta find speakers that match the ports tuning or whatever, but once you do, forget about it. Nothing sounds better. I had to sell this to help a girlfriend pay rent.

Had a Vader 212. I LOVED this cab, too. Of course, the speakers were a huge contributing factor. Tight cab!! Could get kinda harsh and lacked a touch of low end at higher volumes. I used this mainly for playing at home, though. The rhino lining or whatever was awesome. Had to sell it because my band at the time was forcing me to get a 412.

Right now, I have a custom Aftershock oversized 212. Its enormous. Nearly the size of my Avatar contemporary 412. This 212 is actually the only cab I currently own, but I would really like to save up some and find another buzzbomb. It sounds like a 412, but is less than half the weight. I love how it sounds, but that's about it lol. It has basically no bracing inside, which I was pretty bummed about. Maybe the joints will stay strong forever, but its basically just a box with speaker holes in the front. The speakers are offset from each other, and I dig that. This particular cab is finished with furniture finish, and I have basically destroyed a good amount of it...tons of scratches, dents, dings. I take this thing out to shows, so what can you expect...furniture finish is a JOKE on a cab that gets taken out. Maybe nice at home, though. The dude I bought it from said he hadn't been able to scratch it. Whatever, I don't care that much about the finish, more concerned about the actual build quality. Ideally, I would like to keep this cab at home for recording, unless I destroy it first, and get another cab to take out to shows.

Ok. Here's a classic, man.....you'll either love it or hate it. Fire one up, sit back and relax.....I present to you the hour long song. Dopesmoker, from the band Sleep:

Long time 212 user. I must say that I am more of a hard rock player than a metal player. Anyway only own own Mesa halfback 412. Here is my list of 212s

Marshall 1936 copy, currently with two Mesa ms12s and opened back
Marshall 1922 copy, currently with two anni g12h30s
Marshall silver jubilee vertical 212 with two WGS et65s
Fender bandmaster 212, opened back with two weber 12a125a

I love 412s, but I just find that 212s are the nice compromise between size and tone.

Earcandy buzzbomb 212,more than 6 years.....also rivera q212 i got recently but that i will probably keep forever.
