Some video from my Ozzy tribute's show over the weekend. Kind of an old school obscure song you don't hear much but a killer Jake E. Lee era tune.

Awesome tune and awesome performance! Did you learn the lead by ear or by tab? Sounded very close and the vibrato was total Jake. You did a great job with that. Band is tight as well. Are you still using 5153's? A lot of people complain about buzziness but I am hearing none of that here. Sounds better than the sound Jake is getting with the same rig now! The BATM stuff doesn't always get as much credit as the Ultimate Sin material does but just because it was drowned in keyboards doesn't mean the leads still don't rip.

Awesome, I love that song. I'm hoping Jake breaks out some different Ozzy songs for this next Red Dragon Cartel tour like that or Slow Down or Never Know Why which I'd love to hear him play again.

Love the Jake era stuff. Personally for me it's the hardest stuff. His style is very unorthodox. As far as Jake era stuff we do Bark at the Moon of course, along with Rock and Roll Rebel, The Ultimate Sin and Lightning Strikes. We are currently working on Killer of Giants too which is one of my personal favorites. The solo to Centre of Eternity was a booger for me. I learned it with a mix of tab and my ear. I use tab when I can just to save time. I just don't have that much time anymore to learn everything by ear. I use tab to get the basics of everything down fast then go back and fine tune with my ear. The red channel of the 5153 can be buzzy with too much gain and to much highs and not enough mids. I use the blue channel for everything with a Clinch FX Pico Pre pedal always on. It's a clone of an Echoplex preamp. It adds just a bit of gain and just fattens the overall sound just like the original Echoplex. Very similar to the Xotic EP booster and Dunlop Echoplex Preamp pedal which I use on my EVH 50 watt I keep at rehearsal. Here's some more Jake era. Rock and Roll Rebel.

Nice work on RnR Rebel too, the 5150III sounds great to me. My main amp is a 50w, I love that thing, it ended all my amp GAS since I bought it when they first came out.

Killer of Giants may very well be my favorite Jake solo . He's my favorite guitarist but picking my favorite solos and riffs of his has never been easy, but killer is certainly up there when it comes to solos. Very few people play that solo correct and when played wrong without tapping it just sounds odd. Watch the live ultimate sin video of him playing it to get an idea of how it's done. If you need tabs for it I have some Japanese tab books with it, send me a PM and I can see about scanning some stuff.

Sweet. Ya I have the japanese tabs in a pdf. As for the tapping, we'll see. LOL! Me and you and other guitars players will know it's not right but average drunk Joe and hottie down front won't notice if I tap the octave notes or not. ;) I'll try. It's easier sitting on the couch but standing up live and on the spot it's hard damn it. :D

Thanks guys. There's certain songs you always gotta play in an Ozzy/ Sabbath tribute so it's keeps it fun for us to play some stuff that's not the norm. Here's a little Sabbath. Into the Void.

Nice stuff man!!
WE dabble in Bark at the moon and Rock n roll rebel also Lighting strikes.
Fun stuff but to do it with 2 guys is pretty tough.

sounded great, I grew up listening to that stuff on cassettes!

Great playing! I always found Jakes songs quiet hard to play. He's got a such uniq style. But you handled them really well. He's such an underrated and great player and composer. It's a shame.

Btw, The rest of the band is quiet good.

Killer stuff man. Grew up on that stuff and it still puts a smile on my face to hear it. Excellent band!

Thanks for the kind words. I love jamming with these guys. Very blessed that they are all genuinely good people. Hard to come by in this day and age. Our singer is awesome. He should be in Vegas or something doing this. I still get chills whenever we work on a new song. Ozzy's music inspired me to learn how to play guitar. My favorite stuff growing up. Pretty cool to be playing it with a good group of guys now.
